Easy to find location, just as we entered the city. Unassuming front and decor is plain but hiding beneath this is the tasty food. We came on a cold and wet September, late Saturday evening and were fortunate to get a seat. The Primi was unassuming but the potions of our pastas were huge. The Morellino wine was lovely - it caught my attention which is unusual for a house wine.
The highlight of the evening was the Secondi. My chicken in orange sauce was stunning. The flavour is strong and the meat is tender. I wish I could lick the plate! But my partner's Tagliata di chianina was OMG! Simple cut, cooked to perfection and simply flavoured but the overall effect was stunning. I was filled up with Primi but the chianina made me hungry again. The bite was tender. As tender as I've ever tasted with a piece of steak. If I would go back, I'll order both the chicken and the beef as first and second courses indeed! Compliments to the chef! The price was reasonably affordable. We have been travelling and everywhere was overpriced (and fully booked).
One final highlight. It's Saturday night and everywhere was fully booked. The poor lady was in her own and running the place like crazy. She could easily turned us away. We came in later in the evening but she accommodated us. I hope she's the owner but if not, the owner must raise her wages! There were demands from customers and it took longer to receive the food but the lady kept her cool and kept things running smoothly. I expect less due to her on her own but she's attentive and managed to break a warm smile when I enquired about the gorgeous orange sauce. If I were in her position I would have been all stressed out instead.
My evening at the restaurant was a surprise considered where we came from. It was a pit stop but if I come again, I would visit the restaurant. The atmosphere and the Primi is less appealing and would not gain full marks but considered where we came from, and the experience we took away, the restaurant deserves a 5...
Read morePerfectly perched in the centre of Pitigliano, this restaurant tells a tale of Italian cuisine like few others even qualify to do.
Claudia is fantastic, both as a person and as a chef. Her lively personality enchanted us from the start, with her operating the restaurant on her own without any major difficulties.
However, the real star of the show is the food - prepared by her Claudia's loving hands for our delight, we've tried the typical Pitigliano delicacies she had suggested.
I personally made a mistake when picking the pasta I wanted, which was promptly fixed by Claudia at no extra cost for me. Quickly having received my new dish, I dug in and I can tell you I was silent from start to finish.
The earthy tones of my ragu perfectly encapsulated the region's traditional palates, as well as the olive oil or the wine ever could.
Eating here is more than just having a meal - it's a full experience where everything comes together for your benefit.
Truly felt at home, and I will not only recommend it to anyone but return myself in the...
Read moreThis charming and eloquent ristorante, opened in 2018, is hosted by Claudia, the chef, and Gianluca. As you step into this place, one feels immediately welcomed into a warm and well designed space - a space that will insure one’s pleasurable dinner experience. The food is prepared with the freshest ingredients, with each item on the menu meeting one’s expectations of high quality - in taste and in fine presentation. Two visits during my week in Pitigliano - and I had to have the same il secondo - tortelli with wildboar ragu. Extraordinary. Every other course was prepared in the same impeccable way, from the beginning antipasto to the digestivo. The time spent in this lovely ristorante will be remembered well - and especially the time spent conversing with Gianluca and Claudia. (And their front door cat waiting for his dinner at...
