Itoya — Restaurant in Varese

There are a lot of great Asian restaurants with delicious food and amazing service in Varese but Itoya isn't one of them.

The place isn't very clean. There was dust and fingerprints everywhere.

The food was good but the menu was limited. It almost makes no sense to have an all-you-can-eat restaurant because there isn't much to choose from.

The bathroom situation is not good at all. The stalls share an entrance with the employee area so as I was exiting one of the stalls, a server slammed through the door, sending it flying back at me. Had I not managed to stop it with my hand I would've had a head injury. The action left me with a broken nail. The boy barely apologized.

The worst part of the experience was the two servers who kept coming over to ask us if we wanted coffee or dessert when I was still finishing up my meal. We told them repeatedly that we weren't ready for anything else. There were only two of them and the place was not busy, in fact, there were a lot of empty tables. There shouldn't have been a miscommunication between them. I can assume they were trying to rush us out of the restaurant. I don't know why they did this, it wasn't a busy night. I would also like to add that I didn't see them do this to other diners. So it was peculiar. We felt unwelcome. I've never had this type of treatment at an Asian restaurant before, which is good because that means I still have a lot of other options to choose from since I won't be...

I have eaten here just once and I ordered about 20 dishes with their all you can eat formula. At a certain point they indeed started to be upset by the fact I was keeping ordering, and they started to be a bit rough.

So I tried in any way to give less than 5 stars to this place: personnel is 3 stars, location is 3 starts, presentation of dishes is 3 stars, perception of cleanness is 3 start (at best). And another long lists of very average things.

Why 5 stars then? Simple, one thing that nowadays is too often forgotten with restaurants that get high ratings: FOOD. Every single dish I ordered was good. All the fish was fresh, well cut and tasty. Cooked food was also very tasty and balanced. I can only praise any single of the dishes I got.

A Japanese would prefer dying than calling this "Sushi", but what I got was very good food, in an average location. Eat with closed eyes and it will be one of the good restaurants where...

Locale semplice ed essenziale, che punta più al cibo che al luogo. Qualità nigiri con pallina di riso piccola e fettina pesce lunga, con giusto spessore. morbido, gustoso, alga nori fresca e croccante Menù con ottima scelta, aggiornato spesso Puntano decisamente al gusto e non a riempirti di riso in due bocconi. Tempura sempre calda menù serale senza limitazioni Menù di mezzogiorno è limitato, paghi meno, ma sempre di qualità. Personale gentile, decisamente migliorato rispetto a qualche anno fa in cui veniva criticato per la poca precisione.

Non sarà mai come in Giappone ma hanno rispetto per materia prima e clienti.
