There were so many bad things that I don’t know where to begin. 1. We had a reservation for 8pm. Came to the restaurant, and were welcomed by the long queue of people - all of which, too, had a reservation. Long story short, we got inside @9, and apparently, this is considered normal. Call me old-fashioned, I’m not up for it. Why to bother with the reservation system @all if you have to wait anyway? 2. It took approximately 30 minutes for a waitress to show up and take our order. No drinks. No appetiser. No staff taking care of us. Hm. 3. We dined @10pm. While this is “normal” for Italians, when I make a reservation for 8, I’d expect to dine earlier than that. 4. I had tuna tartare, and Pizza Soft Macho. Tuna tartare was bit fishy, had to add Balsamic on it. Pizza’s dough was not baked enough, and the edges were almost raw. No no no. My friend had Zolina pizza - and she felt sick afterwards. This place was recommended to us as a true Napoli pizza. It cannot be further from truth. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. No!! La mia amica aveva la pizza Zolina - dopo non stava bene.

La Piedigrotta in Varese is a stylish, modern pizzeria with a trendy vibe. The interior feels fresh and lively, with a good atmosphere overall. The music, however, didn’t quite match the rest of the place, it felt a bit off compared to the cozy, authentic pizzeria ambiance. Still, the setting was enjoyable. The staff was very kind and welcoming, which made the experience more pleasant. They were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. You have a lot of options, in my opinion a bit too much. We ordered pizza, and while the flavor was good, the base was a bit soggy, likely due to too much moisture from the mozzarella. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting if you prefer a crispier crust. The location is great: right in the heart of Varese, tucked into a charming little street. There’s a lovely outdoor terrace as well, which adds to the charm, especially on a nice evening. One small downside: part of the ceiling inside looked a bit old and slightly dirty, which stood out in an otherwise well, designed space. All in all, a good spot for a casual dinner in Varese, stylish, central, with friendly service and decent pizza. With just a few tweaks, it could easily be great.

Absolutely one of the best pizzas we've tasted. It's got many creative pizza toppings that you would never seen in any other pizza restaurants. The place is always jammed. The owner and the services staffs were very friendly although during my last visit, it took more than an hour for our pizzas to arrive while my husband's arrived within 10 mins. My daughter and I were watching him eating at the beginning and he was watching us at the end. The 30 mins in between, the three of us were just staring at one another wondering if the waiter had forgotten about us. Overall, highly recommend!

I had heard very nice reviews of this pizza place and that it has the best pizza in the Varese area so me and my friends decided to go on a Saturday evening after having booked a table the previous day. My experience there was the worse I could ever have for a pizzeria. Although we had booked a table they let us wait in the queue for 30-40 minutes (we told them that we have a reservation for 21.45 and they told us in a very unpolite way "go back in the queue"). When our turn came at around 22.20 (and after other people without reservations or with reservations in times after than ours) they put us in a table that was sticking from dirt (at least half of the table) and gave us the menu. Five minutes afterwards we told them that we wanted to order and after letting us wait for some time (not so long this time) they told us that they are sorry but they are out of ingredients to make pizza (by the way the behaviour of that waitress was not the kindest one so of course we got very angry). But seriously? After having made a booking? In a pizzzeria you are sort of flour? Of course we left. I don't know if that pizza tastes well or not but their behaviour was unacceptable and insulting. Of course I will not try to go there again since I am not living in the city of Varese and it takes me 40 min to go there so the effort does not worth it. For what? To stay hungry? Actually if I could put zero stars I would put that but it was...
