BEFED Brew Pub Mestre — Restaurant in Venice

Me and my colleague decided to have a late dinner on that evening and decided to go to the Befed Pub. Well, it’s very particular to say the least. As you come in, you immediately notice that there are peanuts shells crushed all over the place. I’m not being funny but it can be slippery and quite frankly, I don’t adhere to their attempt to show how “casual” this place is. I understand that they want to show that “mess” to prove they’re warm to their curstomers but it’s a no-no. Food wise, I’ve ordered some roasted chicken with crisps. Once again, average. The sauce was good, the chicken crispy and well cooked but the overall dish was way too salted, both me and my colleague couldn’t eat half of it. As for the beers, maybe I wasn’t very lucky about that locally brewed lager I’ve ordered but it wasn’t the best beer I’ve ever tasted in my life either. This was one of the few places that was open late on a Sunday night so that alone was great. We walked in to good music and good energy from the staff who seated us with menus. Most of the staff know English pretty well and they also have English versions of the menus.

The food came out fairly quickly and tasted good but the drink menu was disappointingly sparse. The serving sizes were very big so we ended up with food to takeaway.

There was evidence of a party going on earlier in the day so the place was a bit messy with confetti on the floor and balloons against the ceiling. However, the offer free unlimited peanuts that you can just throw on the floor so there was a lot of that as well. I didn't mind, but it's something to bear in mind.
