Criminals. They will be reported to authorities. MAJOR tourist trap coffee shop deceiving customers intentionally with a price tactic that would be downright illegal anywhere else, and probably illegal even in Venice. They list prices with little paper tags near each product, which is normal of course. However, they will charge a completely surprising and much higher price PER PRODUCT if you sat at any of their self service unremarkable cafe tables crammed into the place. Nowhere do they list this higher price ANYWHERE. Each product gets a higher price by at least a euro or two on some already questionable prices. Coffee prices are not even listed on their main menu hanging on plaques above. There is no real counter to sip coffee if you did NOT want to sit at a table, and almost NO ONE takes coffee or food "to go" in Venice because of weird rules or laws against eating on the streets, so you have no choice BUT to take a table. There is no waiter service, keep in mind. When I asked about the much higher prices at check out, an arrogant employee has a whole spiel about how all food places in Venice do the same thing, which is a complete lie. Every other cafe or restaurant in Venice has what is known as a "cuperto" which is a flat reasonable fee added to the bill if you have table service or sit down. OR a 12% service charge for waiter service. Again, there is NO OTHER choice than to sit or leave. A tiny bar space has room for maybe TWO people, unlike a real coffee bar in Italy. They think we are all stupid and have never visited Italy or Venice before. This is my second time in Venice in 5 years. And I stayed for 4 full days. And many places don't even charge a cuperto for coffee cafes like this one. But the utter deception they use by RAISING THE PRICE WITHOUT TELLING us is absurd and unethical. They will say it's done everywhere in Venice. Nope. And when I asked where they list the higher price, he pulled out a book behind the register that is meant for THEM, not us. And all arbitrary and with prices that didn't even reflect what they REALLY charge. I got hit with a "specialty coffee" price that was €5 euros for literally a single espresso with some hazelnut powder mixed in. A single cookie is priced at 2 euros, but I paid 3 euros without any warning whatsoever. The way the barista guy justified and defended everything was offensive and insulting. Do not go here, unless you want to stand inside smashed near the people ordering. Oh, and I had gone here the day before and one employee was nice and did NOT charge me the higher price, only because I paid first and THEN asked if I could sit down.
One reviewer says they charged extra to TAKE AWAY coffee! Read the reviews, people. You will almost NEVER pay the prices they show.
And for those who may say all places charge to sit down, that is mainly in restaurants with waiter service, and they will either charge a 12 percent SERVICE charge, which is totally normal. And they all say it on the menu. Or they might charge the cuperto flat fee. But THIS place charges extra by the ITEM an undisclosed price, which will jack up the bill by 30 percent or more depending on what you get and how many items ordered. Expect to drop about 12 euros per person just for coffee and a snack pastry. 48 euros. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from these robbers. It will leave a negative vibration for at least an hour after you've been deceived, marring your time in...
Read moreNot as good as expected. The coffee was nice so no complaints there, but the service felt really pressured and not what you'd want from a relaxing coffee break.
As soon as we entered there was a rush to get us seated (noting that you pay more to sit in). We tried to get up to look at the pastries on display and were told to sit down and order from the menu, so we didn't get a chance to look, even though we told them we just wanted to check the food on sale.
Pastries were stale (already by around 2pm) so we didn't enjoy them much.
I'd say there are much better coffee shops and pastries sold around the area so I would recommend walking around and...
Read moreGood tiramisu👍 Great Caffe👍 Great staff👍 Immediately when we went in, the great waiter created such a warm atmosphere and he was just lovely, he set a great mood and was really the person for the job. The 5 stars is mainly for the staff but also the tiramisu was good and we got free chips once we ordered spritz so it was nice! I ordered a smoothie and a few other things the waiter asked if we want it with ginger, we said no but he gave it with ginger he took it back and gave us a smoothie without ginger straight away! He was very nice and sorry and you can just tell, what a nice guy. Give that guy a well deserved raise👍 Great...
