Quick summary: if I could dream up an Italian cafƩ, this would be it. Amazing service, incredible espresso, quaint, cozy atmosphere, and a cool view.
What went right: everything. Seriously, everything. Itās off the beaten path but anything worth eating/drinking in Venice is off the beaten path. Doesnāt have tourist vibes which pretty much every place in Venice does unfortunately.
What went wrong (which is honestly just more nice stuff to say): if I had to nitpick, Iād say there isnāt a lot of seating, so if you donāt get lucky youāll have to stand which may not be great if you have trouble with that. Iāll also say thatās pretty standard at really nice places in Venice. In general if people are standing inside and/or outside the place drinking and laughing, itās a good place. If there is staff outside of it trying to get you to come in, AVOID. This place didnāt have that problem. We walked by this place and it was a beehive of fun both...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a lovely spot! Iām glad to contribute to Adagioās high rating. Fair prices on wine, beer, and cocktails, always a go-to for locals and travelers, and a friendly vibe. As a solo traveler, I was made to feel welcome in this small but cozy place that has pleasant music, an attentive barman, Luciano, who was friendly and fast, and a nice selection of wines all easily visible on a board inside. There is a selection of cicchetti (Venetian small bites) for less that 2 euros each and some sweets as well. During the day itās more of a cafe and in the ebbing a gathering place for snacks and drinks. I highly recommend coming here before dinner for a glass or two of wine and cicchetti or just stopping in for a coffee in the morning. A lovely spot in a lovely area in the center of Venice. Do come! Ā Ā Ā Read moreGlad to have found this bar! Among loud places with tasteless american music (which only added to the feeling of being in a tourist Disneyland) this bar was a breath of fresh air. Not only do they have a great playlist that says "hey you are in Italy", they offer one of the best cicchetti - ones that are flavorful and made thoughtfully. Their texture and choice of toppings made me want to taste them all. The vibe, the cheap delightful quality drinks and the friendliest staff I've encountered so far in Italy, this wine bar is a combination of all to make you appreciate being in Venice at the end of day. Of course the city itself is beautiful. The bohemian parts of the city catch me. In Adagio I can finally reflect that Venice is not just an overwhelmingly crowded tourist destination. But since it's very local, people speak Italian, so opening a conversation with the people there may take...
