Cooofe 9 — Restaurant in Venice

Appalled by the rude staff in here. While waiting for the bus I decided to get a quick bite to eat and nip to the toilet ahead of the hour long journey. (This was 11am) I chose and paid for a trammezzina (sandwich) and went into the toilet. There was a mop and bucket outside in the communal hallway and the floor was shiny, so I presumed it had just been cleaned and to take extra caution on the slippery floor. There were no signs up saying anything. No sooner had I shut the door, I heard a man start yelling angrily and banging on the door and trying to open it, then a woman joined in screaming and banging the door. So I gently opened it and was met with 3 very very angry and overly dramatic Italians screaming in my face in words I could not understand. The man was the worst - gesticulating as if I had harmed someone. I said I hadnt gone, and asked them to please relax the shouting (they didnt) and another person eventually came and said the toilet is broken and I was frogmarched out of the cafe and told to go somewhere else. Absolutely humiliated and shocked, I tried to explain I hadn't gone to the toilet but I had bought food in the cafe and I needed to go to the bathroom. This woman then seemingly took some pity and led me to another bar where she said something v fast to the owners and I was allowed to use their bathroom . Upon leaving and getting back to the bus stop, I burst into tears at the shock of the heavy handed encounter. So unnecessary to scream and yell and bang the doors frightening a solo female, when you could easily have a sign up showing no entry. This was such an overwhelming horrible start to the day especially when 3 of them were yelling banging and screaming at me. Advise...

Very poor costumer service! I am very sorry I have taken my guests there! There was no one waiting to be served, but they asked us for our order three times, without paying attention to what we said (it was three different coffees). They got an order wrong despite having been told 3 times, and did not apologise about it, but rather looked annoyed when we said it wasn't what we wanted. They did not compliment it, gave the wrong coffee away for free to other costumers instead of offering it to us, and finally joked about having made me pay a lot more accidentally (they hadn't). At no stage was there an apology, a good-bye, or the remotest hint of respect and good manners. Couldn't get worse then this! Don't ruin your day, go...

Recommended for a quick snack stop on the way to Venice.

Tastefully equipped cafe with friendly owner / batista. I really liked the cappuccino, the prices are fair and the interior is really appealing. We would not have expected such quality at this price level next to the ferry terminal at lido and where positevly supprised. Unfortunately it was already closed on our way back (20:30) with Google showing...
