Bar Maleti — Restaurant in Venice

I went with my family to eat at the Maleti Paticeria Gelateria place on June 9,2023 at 6 pm. The server/ waiter came to get our order smoking e cigarette while we were waiting with 3 children and 3 adults around the table. The silverware we had to get on our own because the waiter was really rude. Also at the end of the meal we ask for a to go box and he gave me a paper bag to put my food and not to go box. I insisted to get a box asking politely and he throws the box on me and replying that he doesn’t want to give me a to go box. Because we were 2 families I asked for second box and he started to insult me and raising his voice. I have never even experience such a rude service in my life and definitely the measurements of ethic must be applied. To add the food was extremely overpriced and nothing special. Terrible experience and terrible service and terrible attitude. Stay away from this place. They seem to be also racist toward foreigners which makes zero sense since without tourists this place would not exist. Didn’t see a single Italian...

Bought Gelato for my wife and I on a hot summer day. When I asked to pay with my card/phone the server rolled his eyes and pointed me towards the back bar area. I was met by another server who also seemed annoyed that I was paying with my card. He aggressively asked for my card, and I told him I wanted to pay with my phone... which he promptly responded with annoyed look #3 🙄 My wife joking said “that went well” as I met her outside 😜 We decided to sit at the outdoor chairs, there were many open tables to choose from. The same waiter from the back came over and told us this was for a different part of the restaurant... we apologized and ate our gelato on the corner. Bar Maleti is a lovely cafe bar in Lido Venice that excels in its coffee and pastry offerings. The coffee is top-notch, exactly what you'd hope for in Italy, and their pastries are fresh and incredibly tasty, making it a perfect spot for a delightful breakfast or mid-morning treat.

The atmosphere is also quite charming, providing a nice place to soak in the Venetian vibe.

However, during my visit, the service was noticeably lacking. While not unfriendly, the staff seemed somewhat disengaged and slow to respond. Getting their attention for orders or assistance wasn't always easy, which slightly detracted from the overall experience.
