Horrible food and service. Extremely disappointed.
This place was so busy we thought it must be good. Our mistake, it was because it takes over an hour for your food to arrive.
Ordered the caprese salad, a seafood risotto, and a porcini pasta. The caprese took well over 30 minutes to be made and it's just 5 tomato slices, 6 mozz slices, and one small basil leaf for 10 euros.
The mains arrived over an hour later after a few additional requests to get the food. I'm glad I pushed and asked for the bill with the food because some people waited upwards of 15-20 mins for the bill.
The risotto is not even risotto! It's rice soup topped with frozen seafood! The mussels are fresh however because they were not properly washed (had 5 or so bites of with sand). Normally I expect a bite or two of sand but that is ridiculous. Flavour was overall reasonable.
The pasta was actually quite good. I think the pasta had been sitting some time because it was dry on top and not the classic Italian al dente, which is humorous because we waited so long for the food.
The wine we got was meh. Had better for cheaper at other restaurants (with better food and service).
The waiters seemed to know that most diners were upset. Though, one family next to me did say they got sleepy waiting. Hah.
I do feel bad for the staff because it seemed to be a management issue-too many guests and not enough (kitchen?) staff. However, they kept happily seating everyone to their own demise.
What upset me most were the following. Servers were constantly gone (nowhere to be seen, yet people were waiting very long on bills). Further, servers were not apologetic or even kind in their service. The first time I paused to ask on how long the food would be the waiter started walking away before I had even finished my...
Read morePoor food, poor service. Compared to everywhere else we had eaten in Venice and the Lido the previous 4 days, this was the worst. The pizza bases were obviously stale, if not the entire pizzza from frozen, based on the taste. We were not that hungry so didn't want desert or anything else to eat, so we just asked for the bill. The waitress took offence as if we had not ordered enough and blatantly ignored our request. 10 minutes later she returned and took away our wine glasses, without asking, and again we asked for the bill, and again were ignored. Another 10 minutes went by and we were still ignored, so we just walked up to the counter where the staff had just been standing chatting, and asked once more, only to be ignored again! Then we got angry, and demanded our bill, it was only then we were seen to. There are other places to eat on the Lido a mere minutes walk from here that are significantly superior in every way. Choose...
Read moreI understand that restrooms are for customers, but the way I was spoken to here was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. There was no sign on the bathroom door stating it was for customers only. My friend was at the bar to order something, we intended to sit and stay. I politely asked why I couldn’t use the restroom, and instead of a courteous explanation, the staff told me I had to leave unless I bought something immediately.
I was taken aback by the tone and attitude. A bit of courtesy goes a long way, especially in the hospitality industry. I would have had no issue paying for the restroom or respecting the policy, but your passive-aggressive response only proved my point.
If basic communication with guests isn’t handled with care, I honestly doubt the...
