Experimental Cocktail Club Venice — Restaurant in Venice

We stumbled on this spot from a list of top cocktail bars in Venice and were really impressed by the experience that we had. While the Experimental Cocktail Club itself is closed, the second hotel bar is providing service, seating patrons on the esplanade or in the garden. We chose to sit in the garden to be out of the sun. The cocktail menu is a smart, eight drink list with some reinterpretations of classic styles/recipes. We tried the entire menu and really enjoyed every drink -- there is something for everyone. In addition to the drinks, we ordered some snacks and really enjoyed them as well -- much better than your average Italian "cicheti". The staff was extremely attentive and the gentleman behind the bar took the time to come over and make recommendations about other drinks (and even drink spots) that we might enjoy. It all started with the mesmerizing allure of their signature upside-down dirty martini, a harmonious blend of @sospiri.botaniche.veneziane and homemade pink brine, with hints of honey, artichokes and a secret ingredient that tantalized the palate.

As the night unfolded, the ambiance was elevated by the company of the lovely bartenders and the smooth allure of a New York Sour, perfectly complemented by light reading to celebrate #worldbookday

Great service by bar staff, very knowledgeable manager and the place is akin to a speakeasy. Apparently it was formerly just a closet room put to good use. Nice view and interior restoration that's very Miami-vice like in its palate. Seats are cosy and numbered, so come earlier to get a better spot. Best drink was their version of negroni. Others that had Asian roots like the toddy tapper needed more research and understanding of cultural contexts. Definitely reflective of experimental groups strength in running clubs and cocktail bars. Looking forward to their Ibiza location. Sadly, the Nightshift staff member running front desk wasn't as welcoming and was rather rude. I didn't end up booking a room...
