Like everyone else here mentioned, the guy on the counter is a nightmare. If they want to keep the business they shouldn't let this guy communicate with any customer. Since it is winter time, almost all the tables outside were empty and after a very exhausting day, we wanted to sit and enjoy our gelato in sunset. First a waiter charged in and yelled at us in front of other few tables. We figured out that we were not allowed to sit with the ice cream cones, though they were no sign or warning about it anywhere.
Still being optimistic, l went inside and asked the guy on the counter if he can put our ice cream in a bowl, added l was willing to pay the extra for that and plus would love to order coffee. Suddenly he got very aggressive saying that l can't sit outside with cone and added "we have no coffee for you!" l repeated that l wanted to transfer my icecream to a cup and l was okay with paying the extra for that, showed him my wallet, then he kept yelling like l am a pest, moving his arms "Fine! Go to waiter, go to waiter then!" Seriously? Do they have a problem understanding English or are they too spoiled that they don't want to gain any money from a customer that is willing to pay more?
With this attitude they don't deserve that rating. I am a very calm person and l always threat people in service business nicely, never experienced such an awkward situation ever. Their rude employee killed our happy mood and ruined our nice evening. Also their gelato tasted very watery, with little aroma. Regret for wasting my time, money and good mood for this. Avoid the stress from these unprofessional and hostile people, there are much better places...
Read moreGelati Nico, nestled near the Zattere ACTV stop in Venice, is an a definite must-go for gelato enthusiasts. Without a doubt, I think it serves the best ice cream in town, and I wholeheartedly recommend trying their delectable chocolate and blueberry ('mirtillo' in Italian) flavours; they are among a few that are really excellent. The chocolate is rich and velvety, while the blueberry feels very natural and delicious with real flavour.
What makes Gelati Nico even more special is its fantastic location. With plenty of outdoor seating, one can relish their flavorful treats while enjoying a mesmerizing view towards Giudecca. The serene ambiance adds a touch of magic to the whole experience.
Beyond ice cream, Gelati Nico offers the option to order aperitivi, making it an ideal spot to unwind and savor refreshing drinks alongside the delightful gelato.
Whether you're a local or a visitor, Gelati Nico is a must-visit destination in Venice. The combination of heavenly gelato, breathtaking views, and aperitivi options makes it a top-notch experience that will leave you craving for more. Read moreWe wanted to sit down and enjoy an ice cream with a view. I sat down while my boyfriend was ordering an ice cream, and meanwhile I got some menus from some waitress from the terrace on the other side, and I asked if we could sit there. Got a yes and we brought our ice cream over and wanted to look more at the menu. Then got chased away by some rude waiter, and got an explanation from the waitress that there are different prices between the terrace tables and by the cashier. Decided to move back to the tables by the cashier. Then got chased away by the waiter again.
Apparently the ice cream we got was takeaway. Didn’t get the option to choose to sit down or have a takeaway when we ordered.
Haven’t experienced a more rude staff. I usually never post reviews, but this experience was too bad to not post anything. The ice cream itself was...
