Truly Vegetarian-Friendly placek in Venice!

Grand Central was a rare gem—most places in Europe serve pizza with egg in the dough or cheese made with animal rennet, yet still label it as vegetarian.

For those unaware, animal rennet is an enzyme derived from the stomach lining of calves, commonly used in cheese-making. Sadly, most restaurants across Europe are either unaware or unwilling to acknowledge this—and most even refuse to disclose the brand of cheese they use.

But Grand Central was honest and transparent. A big thank you to Sunny, our honest and helpful staff, who openly shared the cheese brand and even allowed us to use our pure vegetarian Indian Amul cheese for the pizza.

I recently dined at Grand Central Mestre and was thoroughly impressed by both the cuisine and the exceptional service. The menu offers a delightful array of Italian and international dishes, all prepared with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions.

Siamo stati un venerdì a mangiare una pizza alle otto di sera, senza sapere che quella sera c'era musica dal vivo. Quando siamo arrivati ci è stato chiesto se fossimo interessati alla musica e dato che abbiamo risposto di no siamo stati messi in una stanza dove non era visibile il palco (la musica si sentiva lo stesso). Il concerto è iniziato alle 20:30 e noi siamo usciti dal locale alle 20:45, quindi abbiamo "goduto" della musica per ben 15 minuti. Questi 15 minuti si sono tradotti in 5€ di coperto per il servizio "music", assolutamente non richiesto. Non contesto il prezzo in se, ma il fatto che questo sovraprezzo non fosse indicato da nessuna parte nel menù o nel loro sito e che nessuno dei camerieri ce lo abbia fatto sapere a voce. Alla fine abbiamo speso 20 euro a testa per una pizza (che ad onor di cronaca era buona), dell'acqua divisa in 3 e ben 15 minuti di musica dal vivo non richiesta e soprattutto non pubblicizzata da nessuna parte. Peccato perché il locale è bello e si mangia bene ma se l'intento è quello di spennare il cliente difficilmente...
