Stopped by for a quick bite during my tour after reading a review about their squid and pistachio gnocchi. I sat inside and the waiter explained to me the squid and mussel gnocchi which wasn’t on the menu was great too. I took her recommendation and when my food came out I was very disappointed. I wish I took a picture to include in this review but it was soo underwhelming that I didn’t think to. It was the smallest portion of gnochi with I promise maybe 2-3 tiny pieces calamari squid and mussels.. I couldn’t even consider it an appetizer and it’s just so crazy to charge 20 euros for this. I’m not happy and go to pay after 2 minutes and they try charging me 25 euros which I object with them telling me since I got 2 seafood in mine for that price point. I was appalled and ended up paying 22 euros for including a cover charge when they did absolutely nothing. The woman manager or owner who was attacking me saying it’s outrageous of me to not pay 25 euros and that I was not ordinary. I’ll leave it at that but please eat elsewhere there are other restaurants nearby that will not treat you like this and steal your money. The food did not fill me up at all and service was honestly disgusting. **Responding to their comment, they did not provide me with bread or croutons or whatever they are claiming, such a blatant lie I...
Read moreAl Fureghin” serves the typical food of Venice, in the relaxed an informal atmosphere of a canal-side restaurant. Despite recent media reports about the very high prices charged in many of Venice’s bars and restaurants, especially to tourists, this place is much more reasonably priced. It was staffed by a team of young lads with an obvious interest in the food and drink they were serving.
Sarde in Saor is a typical dish with its origins in the time before refrigeration when the fishermen of the Venice area would preserve fish, in this case sardines, by marinating them in onions and white wine vinegar. sometimes, as in this case, it includes raisins and pine nuts too. They make a lovely fresh tasting starter or snack with a glass of crisp dry white wine.
To follow, I ate Fegato alla Veneziana, lovely soft calves liver with white onions, butter and olive oil. Hating, as I do, the polenta with which it was proposed to serve the liver, I opted for...
Read moreWe came today because it started to rain and it was the first place to hide from rain. We asked for free table, there was one, so we came into. We didn’t search for this restaurant, we came there by accident. It turned out to be fish and sea Food restaurant, that we don’t like :/ but we decided to order tomato pasta for the kid, coffee, Spritz and tiramisu, and then we were informed in a quite rude way, that when we were given a table we were supposed to order food - nobody told us that when we were asking for free table. Waitress took our plates and glasses from the table - it wasn’t nice nor polite. I felt really inconvenient there and I still can’t understand waitress’ behavior, because we ordered some food! Finally we didn’t get tiramisu :/ I wish I spent...
