Sublime...when in Burano, bite the bullet and come here for lunch (or dinner). We went to Burano to look at this very colorful and pretty town in the Venice region and invested in beautiful Burano lace table cloth with matching napkins and table runner to take home and use and cherish. Got hungry and the lady owner suggested Riva Rosa. They checked our Covid ID and seated us indoor in a cozy corner with a view of the canal and people walking by. Let's talk about the food. The waiter first of all was honest with his recommendations so we followed his suggestions. Got the sampler appetizer which the server suggested eating in the right order,, of cold white sea bass mousse, warm cod mousse, tender octopus, bay scallops, sea scallops, prawns, sautéed onions and fried sardine on white polenta base. Delicioso!!!Everything was fresh and tender, not gummy as seafood can be if not prepared correctly. Next is primi piatti (first course): spaghetti with baby clams. omg. Simple and classic and divine. Next is Secondi Piatti: cuttlefish in ink sauce with white bean puree and polenta. At this point we couldn't be anymore convinced that we were eating in a very special place. Just amazing 👏 Last but certainly not the least is dessert: 2 layers of fresh meringue with chantilly cream cream and strawberries 😋 We died and went to...
Read moreDuring our November 2018 visit to Burano, we stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant. It made our Venice destination complete with impeccable service, well appointed cozy dining rooms, and beautiful regional cuisine. We started with a Veneto Merlot recommended by the owner. It was spectacular and well within the norm of wine prices. He then recommended a few menu items. I hadn't had cuttlefish before and he brought a sample of it. It was FABULOUSO! He then brought house churned butter for the breads. We shared the fresh mixed seafood with bay scallops, sea scallops, baby whole octopus, shrimp, and onions with sardines over polenta. It was all sublime. It was followed by Peccheria Pasta with Yellow Fin Tuna. Spectacular! A visit isn't complete without the Risotto with both cuttlefish and ink along with white risotto with fish stock. Espresso finished the meal with complimentary almond pavlova cookies. If our journey in life brings us back to Burona, we wouldn't think of missing another dining...
Read moreStopped here as recommended for a drink. Asked for a table for 2 for drinks and he sat us outside with no problems. We ordered some water to start with and then the waiter came back to ask us what we would like for lunch. I said we were only coming for drinks and he screamed at us ‘this is a restaurant not a bar’ ‘you eat here not just drinks’, then stormed off. Another waiter then came over to us and asked us why we didn’t want to eat, I explained that between then heat and the limited choice on the menu we didn’t fancy having lunch. He then chucked the bill at our table and demanded we pay for the water which we were more than happy to do, in fact we wanted to just to get out of there ASAP. Not a great experience at all for somewhere recommended so highly. How dare I be thirsty on a hot day? Had better service at a public toilet. Do not come here if you want a pleasant experience in Burano, get your drinks...
