Osteria Lisca — Restaurant in Venice

So you find yourself walking the streets of Venice Masetre trying to figure out dinner. Not much on the internet as I don’t think reviewers come here.

I am looking into a restaurant, a man comes up to us and says would you like to take a look. We decline but ask if the wine is good a key question. He says it is. I say how do you know. He says that it is my restaurant.

So we went back.

A warm engaging meal followed. The wine list was long and good, 20 plus wines by the glass, all local and I think all of them under 4 euros a pour.

We started talking to our waiter. He enjoyed us and we him. Once he knew we were open to good food and wine he punctuated our meal with tastes of things from the kitchen (and in Italy when they offer your a dish they never charge) and wines that accompanied them. An enormous Frito Misto. Gnocchi with crab sauce. White polenta and shrimp. And that is what I remember.

It ended with an amarone grappa and then we found out that our waiter was the father of the owner.

The moral, whether coincidence or just circumstance, trust your food angels...

I'm going in this typical Venetian Osteria almost every week and I now realize I've never left a review. Needless to say this is my favorite place in Venice Mestre! Great atmosphere, down to earth people who really know their job, without that snobbish attitude, which unfortunately seems to be a rule nowadays in the restaurant industry... Be it for a spritz, a glass of wine, a finger food, a complete dinner, they serve you with the same genuine enthusiasm rare to find... since the food is always fresh, this my advice: just enter the place and ask them what they suggest for your aperitive, lunch or dinner, according to your taste, you will simply get the best and won't regret... and at a more than...

Incredible place! What an amazing restaurant to end our family trip in Italy with. The food was so vibrant and well made with the utmost care and noticably done from the heart ❤️. Throughout the evening the host, Davide, treated our every wish with the loveliest smile and with his charming personality. From the beginning, when he welcomed us with "buonnaserra" and a big smile, we realized that we are in for a treat. For seafood lovers it's heaven!!! Don't miss out on this hidden jem.
