La Torre Osteria — Restaurant in Venice

We came here because we saw the good recommendation from Google. But what I can say, the service was one of the worst which I experienced. We are austrian Tourists, we ordered 3 cokes and 2 small beer, we waited about 30 minutes (in that time one of the starters already arrived). I asked our waitress if they maybe forgot our drinks, because 3 tables which were sat after us already received their drinks and also starters. She was annoyed from me and said that there are also people outside, no sorry, nothing. Then we already got our main dishes and I asked once again, very nicely, when we can expect our drinks. She did not react and came with our drinks about 5 minutes later and said in an unfriendly undertone „the drinks“. So, until we got our drinks we nearly waited 35 minutes. I also ordered another 2 buckets of bread two times and we never got it. We wanted to eat dessert but after all this we were just happy to leave. After that we asked for the bill, the waitress did not took our plates for another 20 minutes. For the bill we also waited about 15 minutes. She did not come to take our money so we went to her to give it to her and she told us that we need to go to the bar and pay there. I stood in front of them and wanted to pay, they returned and left the kassa, I was already fed up so I left the money on the desk and left. We were already leaving, when the waitess ran after us and told us that the bill was wrong, they only charged us 4x coperto instead of 5x, but tbh we only got 4 coperto service. But with all that what happened I just left the another 3€ and went out. This was by far the worst restaurant visit I ever had and even with all that happening, I was still friendly and patient to the waitress who never said sorry for even oke thing which went wrong. There is a huge difference between Italian people and tourists. We had the feeling that they did not want to have us as guests. I am usually very friendly and I am very patient but this evening tested my nerves. Nevertheless the food was good, but the service worst one I ever...

Amazing. The food was absolutely delicous. From the pasta to the meat to the burger and fries, it all tasted really good and the portion sizes where nice. The desserts aren't earth-shattering, but still very very good! The staff is really young and energous and extremly friendly even if you don't speak the language. The young, vibrant staff and the modern but also really comfy ambiente invite to stay for a long time and enjoy the meal. Everyone speaks really good english and is able and also happy to help you with your order or recommend a good wine etc. which makes it a perfect spot for tourists! Again the staff is awesome. They take their time to help you, to recommend stuff and for example to point out that the meat gets cooked at low temperature - therfore it will be at the "rare / medium-rare" side of the spectrum and not "well done"....you really feel welcome and not just like "another guest". I was really amazed by the friendliness. The prices aren't cheap but absolutely appropriate for the amazing food! Just as a heads up - I don't know if it's only on sundays or what... - but in the evening the kitchen opend at 19:30. We where there at like 7pm so we had to wait a bit until we could order, which wasn't a problem a we where served chips and bread to pass the time, but just that you know :) It was the perfect choice for the last dinner in Venice and I will definitely eat there again when I visit Venice another time. Vi racconto in breve la mia esperienza: insieme a mia morosa entro in questo locale che in un primo sguardo mi porta a quella che è l'idea di un qualsiasi bar, seppur ben curato. Un cameriere, di cui parleremo meglio dopo, ci chiede come può aiutarci e, dopo aver detto di aver prenotato, ci scorta dietro il sopracitato bar, in un angolo di locale meraviglioso. Ambiente soft ma allegro, minimalista, finemente curato nel dettaglio e nella pulizia e con uno stile che unisce il legno antico allo stile moderno. Non mi rendo subito conto di dove sono finito in quanto, notando il menù davvero corto e i prezzi abbastanza alti, tutto ciò mi turba e mi cieca dal luogo stesso. Veniamo accolti molto cordialmente con dell'acqua per iniziare mentre scegliamo cosa ordinare, cosa che ho personalmente trovato davvero efficace in quanto, lavorando io stesso nell'ambito della ristorazione e girando numerosi locali, so che la prima regola è che i clienti possono aspettare il cibo ma mai da bere, ed è il primo ristorante che noto aver applicato alla perfezione questa regola. Discuto con mia morosa su cosa prendere, ancora mezzo crucciato per le motivazioni sopra, quando un cameriere ci chiede se vogliamo ordinare. Alla richiesta di spiegazioni su numerosi tipi di carne (presenti nel menù) egli, preparatissimo, tira fuori delle foto dei tagli di carne presenti in magazzino e ci spiega alla perfezione e nel dettaglio cosa sono, come abbinarli, come possono essere preparati, come possono essere tagliati a seconda della quantità di fame e soprattutto il gusto, prendendosi la (apprezzatissima) confidenza di suggerire quale avrebbe scelto e con che tipo di cottura. Molto sorpreso dalla sofisticatezza e dalla serietà della spiegazione rimaniamo un po' attoniti e sconcertati, e, dopo aver chiesto del tempo per discuterne, abbiamo deciso che per la prima volta saremmo andati sul sicuro con un normale Cheeseburger classico. Ordinato e arrivato in POCHISSIMO tempo, massimo 10 minuti, solo dopo essere preceduto da un sontuosissimo cestino del pane, con 5 tipi di pani diversi e bruschette eccezzionalmente buone, con taralli, bibanesi e pane da ristorazione, osservo il piatto impiattato alla perfezione e con un rigore notevole. A sinistra il panino, di bellissimo aspetto, con un profumo di cipolla caramellata delizioso, e a destra una combinazione di patatine (servite in un cestinetto metallico bollente per tenerle al caldo anche dopo aver mangiato il panino) con del normale ketchup a disposizione in una graziosissima ciotolina. La sofisticatezza del cestino del pane e la bontà di esso mi avevano semplicemente alzato le aspettative nei confronti del Cheesburger, aspettative che sono state DI GRAN LUNGA SUPERATE. Ovviamente è soggettivo, ma in quell'osteria ho mangiato il piatto più buono della mia vita. Semplice, carne squisita, succulenta, il panino non perdeva eccessivo olio e si scioglieva letteralmente in bocca, il sapore della carne si sposava perfettamente con la croccantezza e lo strato di insalata che, non ho idea del come, non si lessava e rimaneva morbida e fresca. La cipolla caramellata dava un sapore squisito al tutto, condito con pomodori e formaggio. Il panino era talmente tenero che avrei potuto tagliarlo con il cucchiaio. Credetemi quando vi dico che nel palato non c'era più una divisione di gusti ma un conglomerato eccezionale di sapori che si scambiavano e scioglievano per rimescolarsi. Ho speso tanto, ho speso più di 45 euro (in due) per quello che alla fine era un panino, ma ragazzi sono sicuro che in quel ristorante ci tornerò, e anche presto, a spendere tutti i soldi che merita fino all'ultimo centesimo. Serata splendida, mangiato in un'ora e ancora tutta da gustare....
