Well what I am going to say is not related to the food or the restaurant it is related to Mr.Amin the owner of the restaurant.I hope that his wife sees that review because she is living in a big lie .2 years ago,I have went with my friends to have dinner .Mr Amin is Egyptian (same as us )and his wife is Moroccan and we were looking for Halal food so his restaurant was a good choice and one of my friends referred it to us .The food was good the prices were low everything was working well .when we were leaving Mr Amin told us that he was a christian when he was young but he wanted to marry his wife which is Muslim and she asked to become Muslim first to marry him because in Islam Muslim women cannot marry non Muslims “These ˹women˺ are not lawful ˹wives˺ for the disbelievers, nor are the disbelievers lawful ˹husbands˺ for them.” (Qur’an 60:10).Mr Amin told us proudly that he is atheist and faked that he reverted to Islam to marry his wife without her knowledge because a marriage without his reverting would not be recognized Islamically, even if it is recognized by civil law.The man is literally manipulating the woman living with her without her consent ,having a daughter from her named Sara (where the restaurant is named after her)while the woman according to her religion cannot be his wife and cannot have a child from him not only that but he is also very ok with what he did such that he is stating it out of context to his first-time customers .We were shocked but what he said even we left without saying anything because we had a bus to go to Rome and I forgot the story I think I am too late but his wife should know that she is being manipulated and deluded by this man
Regardless of your religion ,POV this woman has the right to know the truth and to know that her husband is lying to her manipulating her and their relationship is not acceptable according to her religion.I hope she sees that review .I wish I could go to Italy and tell her but I cannot.I swear this is the truth and I would gain no benefit from lying .If somebody can reach out to her I...
Read moreShort review: Hidden gem in Venice (outside the tourist area area). A must visit for rich flavoured and tasteful local Italian dinner.
Elaborate review: What makes it remarkable: It is away from the tourist area, which maintains reasonable prices and relaxed ambience where you can enjoy your meal without having to line-up for long. It is only 15 minutes walk from Venice train station. It is also 5 minutes from one of the vaporetti stops. Authenticity of menu and quality of ingredients are supreme. I met with the chef to compliment the food and ask about some recipes, and I learned that the owner has been in the restaurant business for over 40 years, and this explained a lot.
I visited this restaurant multiple times during my visit to try different dishes. As the quality of food and service were always guaranteed. A major characteristic of touristic spots, where you will pay more for mediocre quality. So, once you find a decent place, you would re-visit, like this restaurant.
Pasta Carbonara: I had pasta carbonara, it was done to perfection. They make it with pancetta, instead of guanciale to be less fatty and give deeper cured flavour. Grilled vegetables: The plate had generous portions of flavourful assortments, with fine olive oil. Pizza: They serve Roman-style pizza, thin and crispy crust. Toppings were fresh and tasty. You can request the pizza to be split into 2 halves, to try different toppings. One pizza can easily feed 2 people. Appetizers: Insalata di polpi (octopus salad), similar to the other dishes, tasty and made to perfection. Dessert: Tiramisu and panna cotta were very good. Finished the meals with espresso coretto.
Finally, the place has indoors and outdoors seating areas depending on the weather and your preferences.
This restaurant was recommended to me by a local and experienced traveler. And I am passing on the baton to whoever reads...
Read moreWe had the same experience as all the one-star reviews. This place is a scam!! We were on a business trip and seven of us decided to try this place. We had our meals, and when it was time to pay one of our vendors offered to put it on his card. When they brought the mobile POS his card wouldn't go through. The waitress starts berating him saying he is trying to pull a fast one (what irony). When he tried again, we noticed the machine read no network found, the machine was not even connected!! They said he had to pay in Euros! We argued that the machine was broken and how we were to know that, they never said anything before we ate that the machines were down and only accepted cash. The owner tried to calm the situation down by offering us Limonchillo and told the vendor to go inside and try the machine inside. He went inside and came back to the table and said he didn't think the card worked inside either. The owner came back with the receipt, we asked if the card went through and he gave a thumbs up. So we thought the bill was settled. We get up and when we get to the door, he starts screaming to the cardholder you're a bad man! ( more irony) We argue some more about the machine, the bill "supposedly" being settled. He kept pointing to the ATM by the entrance or threatening to call the police. At this point, we just wanted to be done with him and the drama. Luckily the 5 of us in the group had enough euros to pool together to pay the bill. This place is the definition of a shady tourist trap. Stay away!! There are a lot better places to eat in Venice with better service, food, and well-mannered and honest...
