Very bad experience. Waste of money from my side and waste of products from theirs. I don't understand how can you serve such pretentious dishes and then deliver such horrible, disgusting, awful food. With things that didn't match together. In the appetizer there was a topping (fried cod skin) that was like glass, inedible, hard as a rock, i did hurt my teeth trying to eat it. The 25 euros pasta with crab was full of sharp shell's pieces inside. Very dangerous. Then the homemade fusilli also overpriced they were so bad tasting, that we had to leave them, nevertheless so expensive, because really we couldn't eat them. Fusilli with black garlic, burrata cheese, capers and fried stale anchovies on top. Garlic was burnt, so very bitter, the other ingredients didn't link together at all making it very disgusting. Then as a second, the ombrina pieces of fillets were actually not so bad by themselves but together with pecorino sheep cheese was covering everything up, again mismatched and horrible. This is a good example of When you want to be innovative and you fail miserably. Better learn to cook the classics and the basics and not to try to impress without knowledge of what you are doing. The website and the promise by phone conversation was not the same with the reality. Was very disappointed. We did sit inside as the weather was not the best. I can imagine whe the weather allows the view is very nice and do attract people. The service was OK, but the the food... They are trying to be a or giving the image of fish 🐟 restaurant with little bit extra...but it is not working. Quite small portions, and the food is definitely not worth the money. The risotto was limit overcooked and the the tuna tartar on to you could count the few pieces in one hand. The tiramisu and the cheesecake was definitely one of the worst / tasteless we have been trying... Just tasting cream!!!

Not kid friendly manu, they don't have one. My son choosed from the normal manu and he is use to it so... He choose Mixed Fish, I thought as it is a fish restaurant should be no problems. The squid 🐙 was so elastic and limit chewing gum. The rest was OK. Have to say that the coffee ☕️ amd the bil for what we experienced was very good. Overpriced for what you get for what you pay. To sum up, definitely...

ASPETTATIVE NON SODDISFATTE Per la cena di questa sera ci addentriamo in quel di Ventimiglia alta, un borgo medioevale, al confine con la Francia, da pochi anni brillantemente riqualificato. Abbiamo prenotato da U Funtanin. Siamo in otto comprese le nostre tre pargole. La struttura si affaccia sulla piazza che precede l’ingresso (Porta Nizza) del centro storico. Comodo parcheggio sottostante. Una volta entrati, il primo impatto è notevole. Il locale gode di un’atmosfera decisamente accattivante. Tutto molto stiloso, forse solo un po’ troppo buio. Ci accomodiamo. Innanzitutto, un paio di bottiglie di acqua e poi delle bollicine. Scegliamo un Franciacorta di cui non ricordo l’etichetta, ma che ha convinto l’intera tavolata e che bisseremo durante la cena. Per le pargole una Frittura del Funtanin. L’approccio stiloso lo si ritrova anche nella presentazione dei piatti. Frittura composta principalmente da anelli di totani, gamberi e pesciolini di piccola taglia. Porzione abbondante e di buona qualità. Il servizio è si giovane, ma molto serioso ed impostato. Noi cinque adulti decidiamo per la Degustazione di Antipasti, un mix che comprende le quattro proposte presenti sul menù. Grande piatto squadrato suddiviso in quattro scomparti. In questo caso ho trovato la presentazione, forse, un po’ datata. Ma veniamo al contenuto: tentacolo di polpo grigliato su piccola ratatouille, medaglione di tonno su vellutata di piselli e cipolla caramellata, insalata di polpo su di un assaggio di condiglione, tartare di spada con cremoso al formaggio. Piatto soddisfacente, non esaltante, ma buono. Procediamo col secondo giro di portate. Mi faccio incuriosire dal Kebab di pesce ed uno dei miei due soci segue la mia scelta. La presentazione non si discute, l’idea neanche, ma il risultato non convince del tutto. Gestione complicata con il pane arabo che rimane troppo slegato dal resto e dove il sapore del mix di pesce all'interno non riesce ad emergere completamente. Peccato. Una delle due signore ordina Orecchiette con cime di rapa, bottarga e tonno, forse il piatto più riuscito. L’altro mio socio decide per un Tonno scottato con cipolla rossa caramellata e frutta di stagione. Piatto delicato con un giusto punto di scottatura del tonno, abbinamento particolare. Ed infine la seconda signora ordina un Filetto di ombrina con contorno di patate novelle che, purtroppo, tarda molto (troppo) ad arrivare. Rimane sempre sgradevole cenare con tempistiche differenti, soprattutto se le aspettative sono alte. Saltiamo i dolci, gli amari, solo tre caffè ed il conto. La spesa complessiva è pari a 340 euro. Non ho più con me il dettaglio, ma la sensazione è di aver ricevuto un trattamento economico sproporzionato rispetto a quanto ricevuto. Consideriamo che le tre pargole hanno mangiato ben poco ed inciso, quindi, solo in minima parte, sono state chieste solo un paio di bottiglie per l'intera tavolata, nessun dolce e nessun amaro. Siamo "pericolosamente" vicini alla soglia dei 60 euro pro capite. A mio parere decisamente troppo. Va riconosciuto che la location è molto intrigante, ma purtroppo non tutti i piatti si sono rivelati convincenti e qualcosa, nel servizio, non ha funzionato...

A truly wonderful restaurant with excellent service! The chef clearly knows how to cook — everything was delicious. What really impressed me was that the pasta for our child was charged at half price (as it should be in good restaurants, though sadly not all do this). Another pleasant surprise: even though fries weren’t on the menu, we asked if they could make some for our child — and they did, with no problem. It was real potatoes with the skin on, fried in fresh oil, not the frozen kind from a bag. Absolutely priceless, thank you! The main dishes were outstanding, with generous portions. Will we be back? Absolutely!

Incredibile local food such as Brandacujun and trenette al pesto. Keep in mind the menu changes often probably based on seasonal availability of ingredients. The service was prompt, attentive, and very friendly. Prices are moderate. Wonderful restaurant!! Grazie, ottimo pranzo. Le trenette al pesto me le ricorderò per molto tempo. Buonissime!!
