Bistrot Porta Nuova — Restaurant in Verona

Very strange moment. While waiting in line there was some kind of dispute between a customer and the bar about the milk, the to go coffee was angrily returned and spilled all over the bar. I assumed it was an overreacting client and felt sorry for the staff. I got two Cappuccinos with soy milk, both of us (drinking soy milk of different brands, the one used included on a daily basis) realized upon the first sip that there is something not ok, super sour and stingy taste. I returned and excused myself and asked for another coffee, maybe espresso even if there's no other soy milk, friendly indicating that something's not ok with it. I was explained that this is what soy milk tastes like, I could go and buy espressos if I don't like it. I was very irritated being treated this way. Various staff members kept on explaining me something and didn't take their mistake serious and in the end angrily returned me my money, refusing to make me another coffee. I have no idea whether the milk was sour, or the coffee, or there was a problem with the machine, but that's not my responsibility to know. Very unprofessional and rude when I stayed very calm and friendly. I understand the stress of a busy day, but maybe you can have a service standards discussion based on...

Bad service from bad people. We just came in and sat down to get our backpacks off. After not even a minute, while we were discussing what we want to drink so we can order, this lady comes and very rudely tells us that we have to order. After telling her we are going to do so right at that moment, she again told us the same thing while looking at us like we were invaders or something. Please stay away from this place as much as possible. If you want to get a water or something to drink...

Tra tutti i locali che popolano la stazione di Verona Porta Nuova, il Bistrot Porta Nuova è quello che sembra essersi svegliato nel presente, mentre molti suoi vicini restano prigionieri di una cartolina degli anni ’50 , e non sempre nel senso romantico del termine… diciamo che la pulizia a volte ricorda più i binari che un bistrot.

Qui invece la musica cambia: insegna luminosa, ambienti moderni e un set up che fa l’occhiolino al viaggiatore distratto.

Non è certo il posto dove ti siedi a leggere Guerra e Pace sorseggiando il tè delle cinque. Sei in una stazione, quindi entri, mordi, bevi e riparti. Ma in quel breve pit stop il bistrot sa farsi notare.

Il bancone lungo evita che la folla si trasformi in una rissa per il cappuccino, e la vetrina di brioche e panini ti guarda con quella luce giusta che trasforma un semplice cornetto in una tentazione irresistibile.

La qualità del cibo è buona, se il languorino colpisce mentre aspetti il treno, qui trovi un’arma di difesa più che dignitosa.

Il personale è veloce, ma non aspettarti sorrisi da pubblicità del Mulino Bianco: il calore resta in valigia, qui si distribuiscono caffè e panini con efficienza chirurgica, il giusto per un luogo di passaggio. I prezzi? In linea col mercato: niente colpi bassi, niente miracoli.
