Arrived desperate for the bathroom, which was gatekept by a 5'6" security guard with a complexion closer to a glass of multi-vitamin juice than a human and a crew cut. I was informed that he "needed" a receipt to let me use the bathroom, and showed little regard for my urgency - he was quite literally taking the p*ss. To prevent my bladder from exploding, I ordered a bagel and an iced coffee (both mediocre but not unpleasant, though outrageously priced) and sprinted into a bathroom that wouldn't have looked out of place in a nuclear fallout zone. Unidentifiable fluids were strewn across the floor, no toilet paper was to be found (and the thought of asking the security guard to supply me with some filled me with fear), and I was hesitant to push the (broken) flush button for fear of sepsis. I will update if my condition worsens.
Once I made it out of the bathroom (with wet hands, of course, as there was neither soap nor a functioning hand drier) I rejoined my group of six and ate my meal. About 15 minutes later, the same coffee-shop-bouncer came along and instructed us that we had 10 minutes before we had to leave, as if we were 5 year olds on a playdate rather than a group of twenty-somethings who had just come off a 3.5hr train journey. Bear in mind the place was nearly empty (we should have gotten the memo) and we had all ordered food and a drink. 10 minutes later, sure enough, the man came over with yet another(!) security guard - this one in his late 60s, perhaps trying to live out the tough-man lifestyle he had enjoyed in the late 20th century while enjoying the convenience of unlimited espresso and the overwhelming power that came along with wielding the toilet keys. They both ushered us out - I am sure even now those tables are empty.
I would encourage this restaurant to invest less in their bouncers and instead to perhaps employ someone to clean their facilities more frequently than once a month. And charging âŹ14,40 for a small bagel and an iced coffee, they certainly have the funds. This spot boasts an "American dining experience"; the American experience closest to this...
Read moreCoffee and croissants are really good and tasty. The lady-cassiere is really smiley and good person. But I really donât understand , how it is possible , in time when I am sitting inside, sitting near the WINDOW and drink my cup of coffee, man starts to wash this big WINDOW near me, walk near me, almost climb on my table and it looks like the mop is about to fall on my table. I just wanted to sit calm and enjoy the coffee, but it seems that better idea would be not sit there. How? Really in this place are not familiar with etiquette? The windows are wiped when there are no visitors in the cafe, usually this is done in the morning, 12oz. If your goal is the comfort of visitors, please introduce your visitors to the etiquette. It was not a pleasant situation at all. I hope that I did not waste my time to write this review, I would like to believe that this review will...
Read moreWell maintained and spacious coffee bar. But the washroom in the train station is much better than the one heređ Not so welcoming staff towards foreigners. The menu had many items but the shop had very few to choose from. I asked for an orange juice and the staff said the orange juice is finished. And while eating my order, I could clearly see the staff serving orange juice from the pack. Lucky that i was denied since it wasn't...
