Emerald Oceanside — Restaurant in Chatan

My rating has changed! Yes, I did have some issues but now I get the Okinawan Steak (I believe that’s it). It’s the most expensive one and it is amazing. I have taken multiple people here and they have all loved their steaks. The soup I have gotten is great. I have had zero complaints about any other dishes. Seems like an unfortunate fluke. Definitely try this spot out. I am leaving the original review as it was also true but it has not been the issue since. Staff is always friendly too.

I have visited this restaurant three times. The views are amazing, the staff is friendly and English-speaking and the setting is visually appealing. I really wanted to give it 5-stars BUT

The first trip here was incredible. My medium rare steak was cooked to perfection. I ordered the Loco steak with rice. I loved it so much that I bragged about it and visited a second time. Unfortunately, that’s where things went downhill.

The second trip I went with someone that ordered their steak well done. Mine is the one that came out that way, overcooked and chewy. His steak was not well done. Instead, it looked more medium.

The third trip, same thing. My medium rare came out more medium well while the two people that ordered medium looked to have received their steaks cooked how mine should have been. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt once but I couldn’t do it twice.

The food here can be amazing but my luck was at a 33% rate of success. As much as I liked this spot the first time, the price isn’t worth the chance when there are so many options at a low...

Steaks so good, it will make a Texan cry! Having been in Asia for a while, I will say this is the best steaks that I have found during my travels. Real imported US beef cooked to perfection and not at the inflated tourist prices of some Okinawan steak houses. This is a small boutique steakhouse offering a superb sunset ocean view with a window at most tables. True individual attention by the owner and staff make for an unforgettable experience. I made this my go-to dinner venue while in Okinawa as well as hosted a fantastic dinner party there for clients. If you find yourself in Okinawa craving a good steak, bypass the large tourist steakhouses and go experience the local hospitality at Emerald...

One of my favorite date night spots on island! The owner and staff are so pleasant they feel more like friends or family at this point. That’s a great feeling when you’re far from home. There’s no question about it the macaroni and cheese is a must. Could be shared as an appetizer in addition to the steaks. We asked for a side of the fondue style cheese and it was served like cheese dip! Secret menu item has been unlocked. The toast is great to dip with. The salad dressing is so tasty and the salad is served on a chilled plate. You listen to the sound of the ocean while you eat and the view is gorgeous. Definitely worth a visit, 5/5 in...
