茅ヶ崎「田舎鮨本陣」は、親子二代で握り続ける“湘南の老舗”。ここが愛される理由は明快で、ひと口で海が近づくような鮮度と、思わず笑ってしまう大ぶりのネタ。シャリもやや大きめで、寿司を“食べた”満足がしっかり残ります。店の推しはマグロ。一本仕入れならではの旨みの振れ幅があり、赤身から中とろまで切り口に艶が立つ。

定番は「上寿司」や、贅を一皿に詰めた「大名寿司」。口に入れる順番を少し考えるだけで、味の景色が変わっていくのが楽しい。名物の一本穴子は、ふくらみのある甘辛いツメが香りを引っ張り、シャリと合わさると軽くほどける。中とろは“の”の字に折れそうなロングカットで、脂の余韻がやさしく引く。

競合との違いをはっきり書くなら——回転寿司の利便や、江戸前の端正なミニマリズムとはベクトルが違う店です。ここでしか味わえないのは“豪快×誠実”という手触り。家族で大皿を囲む夜や、遠方の友人に「湘南らしさ」を見せたい昼にちょうどいい。ピークは待ちが出やすいので、計画を立てて訪れたい。バラエティ番組でも“でかネタ”が取り上げられたのは納得です。
