This experience ruined our trip to Fuefuki. Even though my group spoke Japanese, the chef refused to speak anything but broken English to us. Then he charged us prices four times higher than the price listed on the menu. Maybe he was expecting to blame it on a miscommunication? Who knows. The shop was basically empty, but it took an extremely long time to get the food out. While we were waiting, the chef kept bringing us cheap snacks and saying they were “presents” then saying “I’m not a weird man” which is a WEIRD thing to just say out of the blue. We went there by chance cause everything was closed. The chef received us while we were six. We ask for makis and sushis cause we couldn't understand the menu in Japanese. The chef prepared the food in front of us and it was really good. Fresh and delicious. The chef offered us some shots for sake. Everything was perfect! Be careful the prices are yet higher than other dishes in Japan but it is understandable considering the prices...
