ふじやまダイニング — Restaurant in Fujiyoshida

Came to give the restaurant a try directly after the onsen, it was just my husband and I. At first the staff greeted us kindly but once they noticed we are not local their expression changed a little. It wasn’t impolite but we could tell they were anxious. We ordered two main dishes and two beers and we were there for less than an hour.

What upset me was as we were leaving the staffs did not say thank you like they usually would cause they did thank the other Japanese customers.

Please educate me why was my husband and I being treated differently? Just because we are 外人？cause we are not Caucasian? Or because we look Chinese? I would like to understand from the staff perspective why were we being discriminated.

We even tried to speak to them in Japanese and thank the staffs when they served us our food, it baffles how can their attitude change so drastically. Was it because my alarm suddenly rang but I turn it off instantaneously or was it because we took too long to finish our food?

This is our 3rd day here in Japan and our first time visiting the country for our honey moon, and this incident leaves a sour taste in my mouth. We are learning along the way as we travel around Japan, trying to be respectful but it is unfortunately that we don’t see the same respect being reciprocated.

I would like to understand from their point of view cause where I come from at least our Malaysian...

After Fujisan Marathon, after onsen, we have had our dinner nearby Hotel, one floor above Fujiyama Onsen.

We ordered their autumn promotion bento set, surprise us with lots of carbo (rice, udon and soba noodles), salmon sashimi and tempura, great, fresh and delicious food as recovery food.

Felt the cozy and comfortable environment... not sure if too excited after marathon or refresh after onsen or the delicious food or all...
