Incredible. Nestled in an unassuming corner of the city is one of the absolute best Vietnamese restaurants in Fukuoka (perhaps one of the best in all of Kyushu!).

The price, size, and quality of the food are all perfectly balanced. The flavour is so good I will be thinking about it for the rest of the month. I cannot wait to go again and try more of their amazing Vietnamese food.

The staff are friendly and eager to help you understand the details of Vietnamese cuisine (and etiquette!). The spicy pepper paste is also extremely fragrant and flavourful-- and also very powerful! If you like true authentic taste, you can order anything. If you want true authentic spice, you can add in a lot of the spicy pepper paste. When I was younger, I could eat very strong spicy Vietnamese food. Now I am an old man and I cannot eat food that is too spicy... This level of spice is perfect!

Let me start by saying that I have not been to Vietnam. But I have eaten in Vietnamese restaurants in a dozen countries and this was among the best I've had. Certainly the best in Japan. The pho was as good as it looks in the photos, the pork knuckle just so spot on and the sliced meat loaves flavorful. But the tofu? Even better than it looks. I mean each piece had that texture you always hope it does when you order this dish: one piece would cling to its neighbor on the plate, but not overly so. The shell had the perfect texture, dusted with enough corn starch to resist the initial bite but not so cooked that it contained excess oil. The inside was cooked just right, the proteins had begun to change but it was still essentially tofu. The broth of the pho and the sauce of the tofu were fresh and lively and not at all overdone without hint of salt or sugar.
