I would not visit this Hotel again. From our four weeks in Japan and five Hotels, this Hotel was sadly the worst Hotel of our journey.
The service at the Check in was midly speaking, neither very good nor bad for us. But the woman at the counter was not a bit friendly at all. She did here Job, but you had not the feeling that your Welcome. I know that the service World is sometimes exhaustive, especially If customers are troublesome. But thats the Nature of this Sector. So some Basic Level of hosbility should be shown.
The Doors are so thin, you hear everything that is happening on the Floor. Thats double annoying, because they play Music until 10pm on the Floor and you hear it. So not only the special kind of other Tourist from a certain country annoy you with there Noise, no, the Hotel itself does it too.
The amenities are a Joke for a four Star Hotel. It offers Free WiFi, Free Water, parking for Cars (Not important for most of the foreigner), access to very limited public TV broadcasters, free bath Salt you can Mix yourself, at Times not needed Bus Shuttle to the already near Hakata Train Station and daily Breakfest that was included in our Price.
Paid Services are Coin Laundry, Video on Demand Service, Massage Service and Laundry Service.
Lets compared that to the last three Star Hotel we where staying in. It had all the same free Things (except the parking, Shuttle and bath salt). But compared to the Trad, we also had Dinner included in the price, the TV Programm was way bigger with free Access to Services like ABEMA (That alone are more Channels then Trad offers), Prime (Own Login), Netflix (Own LogIn) and more. It also had a hot bath.
The paid Service did not had a Massage Service but the Coin Laundry was 200¥ cheaper then the Trad. Sounds not much but Its a price difference of nearly 60%.
So the Trad has less free services and the paid Services was way more expensive as in a three Star Hotel. They want 1.000¥ per Film in there VoD Service, while they block lots of free Japanese TV and other available Services. And on top of that, they have the audacity to even offer Porn in the VoD Service. I'm not a prudish Guy, but who goes to a four Star Hotel and wants to watch porn?
And even If you would like to, the rooms are build so stupid, that you cannot comfortably sit/lie on the bed and watch the limited TV Programm, because the TV is not aligned with the bed. Also the light switches are at weird spots.
So in short, the Trad blocks free TV Services, to force you into there paid System. You can't watch free TV Anime in JAPAN but paid Porn. On top of that, they are expensive in Basic things like coin Laundry and the rooms/doors allow you to understand every conversation in the floor if you understand Mandarin.
The only thing that is worth four Stars, is that the breakfast has a higher variety then a three Star Hotel. And that the rooms are bigger, but what brings you a bigger room If you there to visit the country and the Services in the room cost extra Money? Location wise its good. But i expect more from a four Star Hotel. Especially if three Star Hotels outperform them to a lower price.
I dont know who there target audience is and how they managed to get so many...
Read moreI stayed in the Hotel Trad Hakata for three nights, and my stay was mostly positive.
The Hotel Trad is in a good location. It's about a 10 minute walk to Hakata Station, there's a 7/11 on the 1st floor and a drug store across the road. There are bus stops nearby also.
The staff were friendly, though I felt the check-in process was a bit disjointed. I spoke to a member of staff who checked my passport and ran through the rules of the hotel, but then I had to complete my check-in on a self check-in machine to pay the local taxes. The machine then gave me my room cards and breakfast vouchers. It was an odd and somewhat impersonal experience.
I booked a standard Double Room, which came with breakfast. The room was separated into a bedroom/living space, and a bathroom with a bathtub and shower, sink, and toilet. The room had a modern feel with contemporary colours and warm wood decoration. The room came with a fridge and a big flat screen TV with local channels and streaming services. My room had a very nice view of the river and the road, and my window could open slightly to let fresh air in. The room also had a humidifier. The room was nice, though it had some issues. Watching the TV was a challenge because the bed and TV are not aligned, and the room doesn't have a sofa. My room also had a faint smell of smoke, despite it being a non-smoking room. I used the humidifier and opened a window in the hopes that the smell would go, but it didn't.
For amenities, the hotel had a shared ice, vending machine, and laundry machine space on one of the lower floors. The coin-operated laundry was quite reasonably priced, and cheaper than a lot of other hotels I stayed at. The hotel also has a garden area. The hotels runs a shuttle bus that goes to Hakata station between certain times in the morning. The hotel also has a bath salt station where you can mix your own bath salts and fragrance oils, which is only open at certain times of day. The hotel also offers a welcome drink at a self-serve station in the reception at certain times of day. The hotel also has a car park, which you can park in if you're staying at the hotel.
The breakfast was served until 10am, but last entry is earlier. The hotel offers a selection of hot and cold dishes, pastries, toast, yogurt, jams, juices, and hot drinks.
Overall, I liked the convenience and location of this hotel, and I think what I paid was good value. Though there were things that I disliked, such as the layout of the room and the smell. The Hotel Trad feels more geared towards business than leisure. However the rooms were very good value. If you're looking for a hotel that's a bit more basic but in a great location and for a great price, consider...
Read moreAs always, I'm just sharing. my experience. it was more positive than negative, I'll start with the good. Great location, a nice room with wifi and laundry. Negatives no space for creative writing or working on a laptop. eating area is only for those who want to pay for a buffet... which was 2,200 yen in person but online they try to charge 5,500 yen per person (awkward). I arrived at the hotel between 1300-1330 and the car attendant tried to get me to park the car early, so I went inside to see if we could check in a bit earlier, the front desk receptionist was a little cold and didn't even take into consideration that I had a 2 1/2 month baby in my arms that we had been traveling most of the morning and my baby just wanted to relax and take a nap. She looked at me blatantly in the face and said check-in is at three. Please come back at that time. I said alright and told the parking attendant that I was unable to park now because I could not check in at the time. He kinda put pressure on me because he said if I didn't park now there was no guarantee that I would have a space when I came back and hour and a half later. It was wild. When I came back there was parking, my sister does social media content and she barely blogged about this hotel. I would recommend it but there are some things to...
