⚠️Worst review i’ve ever written. For your safety, DON’T GO HERE. ⚠️
I have video proof to share privately (given Japan’s law) if anyone wants, just let me know.
[ SUMMARY ]
Hotel staff refuses to give my fully paid for room key (with receipts), refuses to refund, act violently hostile despite being unprovoked, follows guest, wouldn’t stop staring threateningly, and lies about what happened.
[ FULL DETAIL ]
When I came to check in, front staff lady was extremely hostile from the start — despite me speaking to her nicely & respectfully. I tried to de-escalate, but her behavior kept worsening till I felt unsafe and had to start filming for my own protection (i was a girl alone). I also explained why I was filming (which she ignores). Before filming i even asked her “why is she like this even though i’m nice to her” (also ignored at the time).
Then she got even more angry, took photos of her screen (likely my personal data), shuts the gate in my face while i was talking, slam things behind the wall loudly, called the manager in then lied to him about what happened.
She said i refused to pay city tax and filmed her randomly - all 100% false.
CLARIFY: I didn’t film for no reason / to harass (I’d never do that), she made me feel unsafe enough that I had to for self protection, etc as said above.
I NEVER refused to pay. I asked for a receipt (which is standard) and wanted to double check, since : Hotel said“unmanned front desk. Self check-in only” — yet she’s there. She was so defensive & hostile even before asking for tax. Hotel emphasized “all tax included” in payment & receipt. I recently got scammed, so I wanted to be cautious. The questions didn’t take longer than ~10 min & I only asked more than once cause she kept ignoring me. I also asked politely & even apologized in case she was busy (tho there’s no one else besides us).
The manager asked me to delete video evidences. I told him what happened, asked him to check security cameras. He gave the receipt (still no room key nor apology). She slammed the gates violently again, nearer to me this time.
She also wouldn’t stop staring at me with such hostility, sometimes with a disturbing smile (all in video).
i didnt feel safe staying anymore so i asked for full refund. But the manager tried to trick me to click “cancel” on Booking (which would forfeit my rights) & refused to refund no matter what.
WORSE: when my phone died & i left for the police station (cause i dont feel safe there) — SHE WAITED FOR ME OUT FRONT, followed me there & wouldnt stop staring aggresively at me, grinding her teeth. I asked her nicely for the last time what her issue is, but she just replied mockingly “no english”.
I had a breakdown after, also couldn’t sleep for a few days. It makes me feel unsafe in this city (esp. since I was a girl alone) - esp near that hotel area. I cant emphasize enough — she did all that unprovoked. I don’t know what her issue is — racism? xenophobia? mental issues? or is she used being abusive then playing the victim? Whatever the reason, it’s no excuse.
I got tricked by this hotel’s good ratings too, but NOPE — tis criminally vile. The hotel still ignores all my refund requests to this day… Please feel free to share this if it can help others avoid a traumatic experience. 🚩🚩🚩🚩
Note: I heard police reports can be tricky — they tend to side with locals even if tourists are fully right (not sure how true). Japan’s strict privacy laws also make self-protection filming hard, even in dangerous situations.
I was so excited to visit Fukuoka, but despite amazing experiences in every other hotels, this ruined my...
Read morePros: 1) room size is relatively bigger than most 3-star hotel. It has 18 sq meters, not spacious, but ok. 2) It has most of the modern gadgets one could find in a 4 or 5 star hotel, from IH heater, microwave, fridge, bathroom ventilation system, washing machine, etc. 3) The place is relatively clean... except for the exhaust fan ventilation / duct. 4) The balcony has a wonderful view of the city, overlooking a small river. 5) There is a 24 h supermarket (note: not convenient store) called "Sunny" 4 min from it. 6) We stayed at the 7th floor, it is very quiet at night. 7) Staff, although not available all the time, are friendly and helpful. Cons: 1) The closest subway station is Watanabe-dori, N15, exit 2, which is about 6-7 min walk. I could imagine summer season could be very hot or rainy to walk back and forth. 2) The hotel is a 10-storey building and its reception area is tiny, if you are new to it and nobody is around, getting help could be frustrating. 3) They offer double bed, not queen size. You might feel cramped if you or your partner is over 1.8m. 4) The mattress and pillows are on the soft side. 5) The kitchen is fully equipped, yet there is no table or a proper chair for you to enjoy your...
Read morePros: Location was pretty good with easy access to either Hakata or Tenjin. Some of the good restaurants were within the area too!Bedlinens and towels were clean. Povided daily changing of towels and clearing of rubbish. Was able to allow luggage storage for awhile after checking out at 1100.Cons: All table tops & racks were full of dirt/dust. Had to wipe them over many times to get them clean! Very disappointing for Japanese standard!Super low sink! Had to brush teeth and wash face using their kitchenette basin area (lucky we had that).Very soft mattress… was pretty miserable to sleep on for us suffering with lower back problems.TV doesn’t have YouTube/Netflix.Wasted big balcony for no use at all (since laundry could be dried in the shower room). Would have been great to use up this space to enlarge the super small...
