I tried their house coffee and toast (comes with greens and potato salad) I must say I'm overwhelmly impressed with the quality of everything. First of all the staff is very pleasant and helpful. I asked for skimmed milk and its not available. Just as i was gonna say nevermind the staff recommended oat milk, which is surprising because traditional kissaten (喫茶店 coffee shop in Japanese) is very proud if what they serve and don't usually offer alternatives (of what they think is the perfect taste). I asked for nutty tasting coffee and got recommended exactly that with a well balanced roast and fittedly matching oat taste to my liking. Toast is a typical breakfast in fukuoka and the toast is crunch on the outside and fluffy inside which makes it light and not too stuffing for breakfast. It comes with butter and what appears to be homemade blueberry jam because the jam is runny and has whole small blueberry inside unlike the commerical one you buy from stores. Both of which adds to the richness of the toast and goes perfectly with coffee. Potato salad is also another highly recommended item. I assume they added dashi (出汁 a typical japanese cooking base sauce made with fish) which adds to the umami. Overall it was a very pleasant and highly recommended place, living up to its high rating on google. The shop is whimsical and quaintly decorated. Unfortunately there are a few loud tourist table that makes the experience slightly less enjoyable. Doesn't take away, however, the attention to detail and quality of food. 10/10...
Read moreWas trying very hard to find a good coffee place to chill before I fly back home tomorrow... just when I was about to give up hope, I walked passed this classy, well-decorated coffee shop, and knew instantly I had to get in. Had a 850yen tea set with a mini creme brûlée and picked Kenyan coffee sl28&k-7 ruiru 11 to go with it. The creme brûlée was perfect: the vanilla ice cream and berry toppings matched seamlessly with the crispy layer of burnt sugar and custard. The coffee was great, sour and bitter taste at the sip, and gives a sweet after taste. Staff were polite, communicable in English okay and helpful. The location, the food, the coffee, the environment, the music... I dare say the best coffee...
