Overall, a solid, well thought-out hotel with a good price, especially given its excellent location. I will definitely come back.
Pros: Location: in the heart of downtown Fukuoka and right across the street from the main station/transportation hub for the JR trains and shinkansen, subway station, and bus system. This place is a 5 minute subway ride from the Fukuoka airport. There are entrances to the station, as well as a large, partially underground shopping center, just a few steps away from the hotel. Room: I reserved a double room which was a respectable size by Japanese standards. You can open up 2 large luggage pieces on the floor here and still have some walking room (albeit barely). Decor is clean and modern. Bathroom is moderate sized and has a toilet with heated seat and bidet. Service: Quick, efficient check-in. Some English capabilities from the staff although I didn't really test this too much. Amenities: Notable for a lightning fast hot water pot, free bottled water, a small security box. Also shaving cream in little packets is provided among the bathroom toiletries; I don't commonly see this in Japanese hotels. Other: Some excellent features that I don't often see elsewhere include.... · Bedside power plugs: HALLELUJAH. I can't believe how many hotels don't have this, and then to check my cell phone overnight I have to get up and walk across the room. This place has two 2-prong power plugs at bedside, one for each guest. There are also several at the desk and in the bathroom. A+++ for this alone. · Magnetic "do not disturb" and "please clean" door signs. I love these compared to the typical plastic ones that hang off the door handle, because the latter type tends to fall off when you open or close the door. · An elevated sink space in the bathroom, so if you make a mess of the sink, it won't spread across the countertop to your toiletries, etc. · Free in-room wifi and LAN internet. They even provide a LAN wire. · Power plug adapter (for 3-prong or other set ups). Available at the front desk.
Cons: Toilet bidet control panel was separated from the toilet itself and mounted on the bathroom countertop, which limits your counter space a bit. Lack of wall hooks in the bathroom to hang towels. There is a towel ring next to the sink but it's a little crowded and separated from the...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here twice in one month. We were very impressed with the hotel. It is only a block away from the Hakata train station, so we were able to store our luggage here for free, even before check-in time. All of the front desk spoke English well and were very helpful.
Our room was spacious and had lots of electrical plugs. There are also bedside controls for the lights. There was convenient luggage bench in the room. We had a queen-size bed with 2 pillows each. The shower was strong, and the fan in the bathroom worked well. We had strong wi-fi in our room. There was a room safe in a drawer below the luggage rack. Nice, soft bathrobes are also provided in the room.
On of the great features of this hotel is that has laundry facilities on numerous floors, and the price was reasonable. It was 300 Yen to wash and 100 Yen per 20 minutes of drying. Laundry soap is provided for free.
The free breakfast had a large assortment of food, for many cultures. It was very tasty and fresh.
There was a construction site across the street, but we never heard it and we were there during a weekday. Our room window and walls had good insulation.
There is an underground mall a few steps outside the hotel, which also connects to the train station's mall. it rained in Fukuoka while were there, and we barely got wet using these. The are lots of restaurants and shops in the area, especially inside the train station.
If we return to Fukuoka we would definitely stay here again. The price and value for...
