This was an awesome dining experience. My first time trying ikizukuri and I felt bad about it. We didn’t know it would be this style. However, from a culinary standpoint, it was an eye opener. The squid sashimi was so good! They recommended starting with salt and lemon juice, before moving to shoyu and wasabi. I loved the salt and lemon juice, as to me, it does the natural sweetness of the squid more justice. We also had an assortment of sashimi and it was of very high quality. I have never tasted akami that flavourful! Service was very good! Decor was rustic yet elegant. It was almost like stepping into the past but not quite. Though the interior is rather old fashioned, the pool in the middle of the seats is quite interesting. We ordered fresh squid which is a must in this shop. It is as fresh as it can get. But with the poor thing still moving as you eat it, is quite a difficult to bear situation..😳. The tentacles can either be grilled or fried into tempura. They gave 2 pieces of sweet potatoes tempura as compliment with the fried tentacles which taste like heaven!The fresh sashimi that we ordered are good but not like those pure sashimi and sushi shop.
