Ramen Runway — Restaurant in Fukuoka

First of all, I admit that I cannot give a fair review of Ramen Runway since I headed here starving after getting off a delayed flight from Tokyo around dinner time. As expected, this newly opened wing of the food floor was buzzing with hungry diners and there were lines at many of the restaurants. Not wanting to line up as I was quite hungry, I was lucky to notice that Unari (海鳴) had a few open seats at the counter. Unari has five locations around Fukuoka and their ramen is highly regarded especially their seafood/tonkotsu broth offering. The ramen noodle is of the straight and thin variety and they ask you for your preference of bite from soft to al dente. The service aspect of Unari falls short of what you get at their other outlets perhaps due to difficulties in finding appropriate staff for an airport location but what surprised me most was how long it took for my ramen to arrive. I could see many bodies in the kitchen apparently busy doing their jobs but for some reason it took over 15 minutes for the food to arrive. For this reason, I cannot recommend this place for travelers looking for a quick bite prior to boarding their plane or for the ubiquitous short tempered businessmen that are seen rushing around with their briefcases and trench coats. Enjoying a Tonkotsu ramen (pork bone broth ramen) and Gyoza (dumpling) at the Hakata ikkousha, in the Fukuoka airport. Yummy!!

Features a 'pork bone broth ramen' which uses a very thick soup made out of boiling a huge amount of pork bones at high temperature, and is considered to be an evolved form of thick type of soup.
