Little Indian Restaurant & Store in Gotenba Pros: Atmosphere: The store may be small, but it’s bright, clean, and features a kebab stand right at the entrance. Convenient Shopping: You’ll find a range of Indian cooking essentials—spices, snacks, frozen items, and more. It’s perfect for picking up hard-to-find ingredients, though prices are a bit steeper than what you’d pay in Tokyo or Kawasaki. Tasty Bites: The porotta, chapati, and kebabs are recommended—all fresh and flavorful. (I didn’t try the biriyani yet, so can’t comment!) Late Hours: Open until 22:30, it’s easy to pop by for dinner or shopping even after a long day.

Cons: Limited Meal Choices: The food menu is focused mainly on set meals, which can feel restrictive. Rice served is Japanese-style rather than authentic Indian basmati, which may disappoint Indian food purists. Seasoning: Dishes tended to run a little light on salt (perhaps a bonus for some!). Great dinner/supper here at Little Suraiya, this restaurant cum grocer is named after the owners' daughter and I find that the sweetest thing ever! Suraiya's face was on the menu and the front of the shop as well and we had the pleasure of meeting Suraiya too. The restaurant is very clean and quaint and very nice looking as well, very calm and peaceful. The portion size was truly big and big enough for two people, me and my wife truly enjoyed our dishes. I ordered prawn briyani set while wife order chicken curry set, both nice and not salty, properly seasoned, authentic HALAL indian hot food in this daunting cold night weather in Gotemba. Everyone in the restaurant were polite and kind, prices are affordable and we even ordered takeout for breakfast for tmrow. Thank you...

Ambience & location - Located quite in a “discreet” place (or maybe because I went at night) but it’s not hard to miss this place if you follow Google maps. Inside the restaurant is really quaint and clean!

People - Good service with warm people/employees.

Food and menu - A lot of options to choose from. Menu is available in English. Food itself was great with a huge portion!

Price - Reasonable.

Please support them as it’s pretty difficult to find Halal options in Hakone. Out of all restaurants, they’re the only one open until quite late...
