Worth a visit if you are in Hakodate. I was there on a Japanese holiday so not all the stalls were open but I found the Yakiton&Choinomi place at the end of the right hand alley. It was great.
The owner was really pleasant and welcoming. We had a fun conversation with the other customers using a combo of broken Japanese, some English and a translator app.

Read moreUnfortunately this entire group of food hawkers are discriminatory towards people from other cultures.. This is very bad for tourism in Hakodate. The only plus is that they are polite about it. I am not sure of the legalities of this kind of behaviour in Japan but in other countries it would be dealt with. It is better to find a restaurant that will serve you with dignity and respect than to give money to these people. Thankfully there are other restaurants not too far away that will look after...
