Honestly I’m feeling very astonished that this store gets a rating that high. This is the worst dish I had visiting Hokkaido this time. Not even close. Please pay attention that you do not fall into the same tourist trap:

The lamb itself is ok, however the serving size is ridiculous small. For 3100yen each (and forced you to order drinks) the serving size looks about 200 - 300g per person. Not enough for a meal. It grills meat over veggies. Honestly this might be the same for all Ghengis khan restaurant, but still it does not make sense to me. The meat will not be browned and you won’t get the aroma from grilling. It’s essentially a glorified way to boil the meat. The veggies themselves are bad and bland. The grill they use have very little power. It’s the small portable one that Korean people use for their pots. The meat cut is thick which means you can’t get the browning, and again no aroma. What’s worse is the owner recommended you to grill each piece for 25secs and flip 5 times during the time. I have no idea why someone could think it’s a good idea. You get very undercooked meat here.

Found this gem near our hotel when we were craving some grilled meat and it did not disappoint!

They only serve one type of set menu (no ala carte) and they specialize in lamb meat, which explains the name “Genghis Khan”.

The meat was incredibly tender and flavourful. The staff were friendly and patient, explaining each part of the set in English and even helping to grill the first dish for us.

Come to enjoy one of the best genghish khan in Hakodate, and the Japanese omotenashi that comes a long. Super friendly owner who will help you grill while talking about many things. The A set is quite great for 2 people. The lamb is super delish, firm with a tender texture and gamy flavor which is strangly refreshing compared to beef.
