We tried to call for a reservation, but the reception replied that there was no need to do a reservation and want us to just walk in.

We arrived on Wednesday 6:40pm. Firstly, we needed to take a queue number from the machine, then wait for 2 minutes, then be seated.

We ordered both signatures set; Russian set and Meiji western food set.

Russian set was delicious. The server taught us to pour the crab cream croquettes into the borscht soup. Wow, so delicious. beef stroganoff was done perfectly. Piroshki with filling was surprisingly delicious. Award cake just mediocre. 5 stars

Meiji western set, we opted for British style curry with beef. There were two kinds of beef inside this set; curry beef and stew beef. Both were also delicious, soft, and juicy. This Western restaurant in Hakodate is apparently its oldest dating back to 1879 CE when it started out as a Russian eatery and bakery. As a tourist and first timer in Hakodate, I naturally ordered its Russian Food Set comprising a Russian plate of beef stroganoff & croquette, some Borsht soup, a fried Pirozhki bread bun with "curry" filling, a soft bread, some Russian salad, and a Gotoken Quard cake - by the way, the restaurant also specialises in many versions of curry, from Japanese to Nepalese to the English version. And his was its Russian Food Set? It was certainly worth it - especially its stroganoff and croquette, and its Borsht soup. I also ordered to go with my Russian Food Set, a Bakumatsu dark beer that was very good. Service here was "okay" and the dining ambience was good enough. By the way, the building in which the restaurant is located also houses a bakery section with a sort of museum...

I did not order curry dishes as recommended by some websites. Judging from the interior design and the vibe of the restaurant, I ordered the Russian dinner set, which had a salad, bread and butter, borscht, fish crochet and stewed beef and cake for dessert. I liked the salad most because it was finely made with lettuce, beetroot in mayonnaise, rings of fresh onion. The combination was refreshing. I mean it. The borscht was also satisfying. The main course would have been even better if each of the above dishes had been served one by one instead of serving them all at once.
