White Seed — Restaurant in Hakodate

I saw White Seed when searching for beer bars in Hakodate. I was nervous that there were no reviews, and the pin for the location made it seem like we'd have to venture through an alley.

When we arrived, the signage was clear. There was the White Seed logo out front, a sign indicating to proceed straight ahead through the still being renovated structure (to be other shops). And finally, a glass doorway into a little beer bar oasis!

We were greeted by the friendly owner/beertender. He spoke English very well and eagerly explained our beering options.

I started with EBA No. 2, one of the collabs that he worked on. My husband tried "hope," an Italian Pilsner that he was happy with! There were also a few other local beers on tap, which I couldn't help but request a flight so I could try them all (since my husband also ordered the Schwarz beer). I was surprised to see a 21st Amendment beer (Drink or die blood orange) all the way in Japan!

All beers were well selected and created. The atmosphere was fun. The place only just opened on June 17th, so it's still being developed. A Majestic Oasis trapped in the middle of a labyrinth. This gem can be found in Hakodate. Slightly off the beaten path. Done be discouraged by the Pin seemingly in the middle of a building structure. Be it through the ally, or the under construction (at the time of this post) building in front to be a Hair salon and and other establishments. This 8 Tap beer bar is a lovely addition to the Hakodate city scape. The owner/bartender speakers great English and provides wonderful conversation. Very friendly and knowledgeable owner/bartender. Spoke English and facilitated the conversations with locals. Quiet night there but wonderful vibe and a pleasure talking with the locals. Beers I had were excellent and I got some helpful recommendations. Had the owner’s own brew, a dark lager and it was excellent. Really happy to have stopped there before...
