While I will likely never understand the obsession that permeates among the local population for the burger chain, I must admit that this location improved my overall bad impression of Lucky Pierrot. Rather than loving to dislike Lucky, I now, somewhat sadly, just consider it a mediocre burger chain.
This location has its nice points; namely the location, which overlooks Hakodate Marina. There was something about scarfing down a $4 hamburger and watching the choppy sea along the coast that was a bit romantic. I can understand why this location was packed on a Wednesday at 11:30 AM; it’s certainly not for the food quality.
My cheeseburger was unremarkable and, per true Lucky style, caked with heaps of cheese and other sauces, all of which likely masked the flavor (or lack there of) of poor quality meat.
I was actually relatively impressed with the Chinese Chicken Curry. The curry has a nice balance of sweet and spice and we found the chicken to be very well fried. Still nothing to write home about, but let’s give credit where it is due.
This location is much cleaner than the others we have visited. The floors and tables were clean and I didn’t leave thinking a tetanus shot was necessary. Additionally, the service was fast and comparatively friendly.
Sadly, as Lucky transitions from its position of infamy, into a state of mediocrity in my mind, this is likely to be my Lucky Pierrot swan song.
Goodbye old...
Read moreEveryone on YouTube talk about this place so we decided to check it out. I’m not sure why this place is so hyped? We tried their top selling burger #1, 2 & 3. 1 was an interesting mix (fried chicken / general Tao? Burger) but enjoyable. My only complaint is how much mayonnaise they put.. way too much Not sure how to explain it. The patty was not a patty? Like it was a lot more soft texture? Which in itself is fine because it’s a new experience. But this burger just have so many flavours going on it’s like they couldn’t decide which direction to go? It has an egg, tomato, mayo, a brown sauce? The whole time my girlfriend was asking me why I was making weird faces and it’s because my brain was so confused trying to puzzle out this burger and all the flavours in my mouth. My least favourite burger. I think it was double pork cutlet patty? Was enjoyable
The ‘set’ includes fries with gravy sauce and an unknown white sauce. Was just alright also. Seems they trying their own version of poutine ? Was just okay imo
Overall not a bad place per se, but I think with all the hype I expected something more...
Read moreWe are very lucky to chance upon this not-so-crowded "clown" restaurant past dinner time, without realising that this chain is unique to Hakodate, and is usually very crowded.
The stylistic interiors from the rock and roll era is quite a draw. English menu available. Food is affordable, staff are patient.
Burger steak set with rice, Pork slices fried noodles, Chinese chicken burgers, lucky Pierott burger, pumpkin and standard croquettes, coffee, milkshakes - they were served to the table. For the affordable prices, the food experience is way better than expected - very yummy and comforting; especially after walking around the city the whole day, and especially after braving the tourist horde at the top of Mt. Hakodate.
The classic vanilla milkshake is a must for the children, and also for the adults reliving our childhood. I wish that the milkshake cup was bigger though, but we can always order two if one is not enough!
Do remember to tray return after dining.
This branch seems to be the biggest one compared to the subsequent ones we came across in other parts...
