We were very dissatisfied with the long line and ability to see or read the all Japanese menu. My wife is Japanese and my two sons are half Japanese/Canadian and American. We had to wait until getting to the register to figure out how to order. I am Canadian American. The cash register person does everything manually on paper for your order. Almost like 1970’s. The waiting line could benefit with 20th century technology. We were so disappointed after having to go through this logistical issue. We sat down at at a table with almost no service from waitress. Huge comes with very quick delivery of the food and the very good quality food. The food tastes extremely excellent. The size of portions were large, the burger was large/juicy and so delicious and the shake was very delicious. Over all, food delivery totally awesome, food totally awesome and ordering the food completely is horrible. I will go back, since the food was delivered very quickly and totally delicious.

Meal: Lunch Day Visited: Wednesday Budget: ¥1,000 Closest Station: Hakodate Reservation Needed?: N/A Payment: Cash or PayPay Kid Friendly?: Yes English Menu?: Yes While I will likely never understand the obsession that permeates among the local population for the burger chain, I must admit that this location improved my overall bad impression of Lucky Pierrot. Rather than loving to dislike Lucky, I now, somewhat sadly, just consider it a mediocre burger chain. This location has its nice points; namely the location, which overlooks Hakodate Marina. There was something about scarfing down a $4 hamburger and watching the choppy sea along the coast that was a bit romantic. I can understand why this location was packed on a Wednesday at 11:30 AM; it’s certainly not for the food quality. My cheeseburger was unremarkable and, per true Lucky style, caked with heaps of cheese and other sauces, all of which likely masked the flavor (or lack there of) of poor quality meat. I was actually relatively impressed with the Chinese Chicken Curry. The curry has a nice balance of sweet and spice and we found the chicken to be very well fried. Still nothing to write home about, but let’s give credit where it is due. This location is much cleaner than the others we have visited. The floors and tables were clean and I didn’t leave thinking a tetanus shot was necessary. Additionally, the service was fast and comparatively friendly. Sadly, as Lucky transitions from its position of infamy, into a state of mediocrity in my mind, this is likely to be my Lucky Pierrot swan song. Goodbye old friend. Goodbye.

Friday lunch visits. Only 2 people taking orders and a tour guide was doing a massive order for a bunch of Chinese tourists which slowed the line a lot. About a 20min wait to order and by the time we ordered the queue length had doubled! Was it worth it? The signature Chinese burger is quite juicy and tasty with a lovely soft bun and nice sauce, however I don’t get the whole “Chinese” in the title as the seasoning on the chicken prices didn’t have any Chinese spices to speak of. It was nice though and I did enjoythe fries and accompanying curry sauce that was drizzled over them. Son had the Rice Omelette which was massive and at just over 8 bucks AUD was a bargain, and also came with 3 nice size fried chicken pieces. Overall it was a pleasant surprise experience, however not sure I’d queue more than 30 mins for it. If it’s long I’d recommend the other restaurant just 1 block south of the train station which always looks quiet when we passed it.

Explore this must-visit restaurant in Hakodate, just a 10-15 minute walk from the station and conveniently situated near popular tourist spots. During our two stopovers in Hakodate, one on our way from Tokyo to Sapporo and the other from Noboribetsu back to Tokyo, we stumbled upon it while searching for a meal during our DIY walking tour. Although we initially overlooked it due to hunger, we returned on our second stop and discovered a gem. Open late, this reasonably priced establishment boasts both quality and quantity, making it a not-to-be-missed experience. Don't forget to try their burgers and curry by opting for their sets. Hakodate, Hokkaido, in Japan is truly worth a day or overnight visit, offering a glimpse into its multicultural history encompassing British, ASEAN, and Portuguese influences.

Hakodate’s answer to the fast food trend is a quirky and fun establishment. I went here twice in my Hakodate trip and loved every morsel. This particular branch is a lovely American diner themed and it overlooks the bay. Some recommendations: Chinese Chicken Burger (with added egg and cheese) —> Their best seller and easy to understand why. Crispy fried chickens, sweet and sour sauce, fluffy sesame seed buns, they amalgamate brilliantly. Chinese Chicken Curry Rice —> The curry is made with Hokkaido milk, making it has a slight sweetness that makes the dish wholesome. Cheese Fries —> An indulgent fries that packs flavour. Blueberry Milkshake —> Decadent and mellow. The omurice is also pretty good but it’s big so perhaps can be shared. ごちそうさまでした

An interesting burger place and apparently a Hakodate exclusive so give it a try when you come. The burger is well seasoned and cooked to perfection. My wife and I shared the Chinese chicken burger and lucky cheese burger. The chicken burger is full of flavor and goes great with the sesame bun and Japanese mayo. The cheeseburger, which heads up I believe is a pork patty, is covered in a melted cheese sauce and a pepper sauce. Good eats for sure. If you get the set, it comes with poutine like fries, covered with the same cheese and pepper sauces from the cheeseburger. You get a tea as well. If you are on a budget, this place is definitely a good option to fill up without breaking the bank.
