This rezession is only about the restaurant, not the hotel.
I was no guest in the hotel and searched for "restaurant" and found this hotel / restaurant.
When we asked at the restaurant (one floor up, through the hotel), if they have a seat, we didn't get one. We were asked to leave, because we are no hotel guests.
That is no problem, but how it happened was very different.
The waitress followed us one floor down to the front door, so we leave immediatly. We felt like we did something very wrong. I have never felt that miserable on beeing thrown out for a long time.
Some hotels serve food for non guests, all over the world, but this hotel does not.
How do we know you do not serve food for non guests?
I respect the policy and rule of the hotel, but beeing thrown out like this never happend to...

Calm and old school
No personal shower (issue for small kids family but not really an issue for me as it is an Onsen hotel). Great Onsen.
For westerners: Well made Japanese breakfast at lower tables. Same everyday. Great for some but not so good for most western children and people needing more fiber and/or sweet breakfast.
To improve suggestions:
Should add plates to room (and cutlery of some kind, a spoon and chopsticks).
Should recalibrate/buy new Onsen termometers and Sauna timer.
