CafeDouce — Restaurant in Hakone

I went there thinking it’s going to be a nice place because of the high rating. However imagine my shock and disappointment when I entered the place and smelled an awful odour of mustiness from the inside. Food also left much to imagination. In my sandwich there was a hair and my friend’s baguette looked disgusting. Furthermore pictures on the menu didn’t look even close to reality, what you can see on the attached pictures. Came here for lunch today. It was by far the WORST experience I have ever had in Japan. Food was average. Service was HORRIBLE. To keep it short, the restaurant owner (male) basically asked us to leave immediately right after he saw that we finished our food/coffee because there were two customers waiting to be seated.

I was so happy when I walked past and saw that they had a small vegetarian menu. I immediately decided we would go there after the open air museum and we certainly don't regret that. I had the Japanese mushroom pasta which was fantastic and my partner had the seafood rice gratin. We were very happy with all of the food and it was also very cheap (less than £15 for both of us with salad, drink and dessert each)! Definitely recommend and also very nice cat decoration that made it very cosy....
