This was such a wonderful find. I wanted to explore Hakone and went in a walk and found this coffee shop that makes pour overs. The owner Tom, used to be a music producer in the 80’s and was telling me about his music while he made me the most delicious Guatemala coffee and a hot ham and cheese sandwich. This coffee shop is inside an old Airstream that he refurbished to be a coffee shop. It has a small seating area inside that was really cozy. This was one of my favorite finds in Japan 🇯🇵!

So glad that we get to stumble upon this Airstream-turned cafe in Hakone. The interior is small but cozy, warm and inviting. Drip coffee were awesome that we even got the beans to bring back home. Toast was made on a stovetop toaster which was so interesting to see! To top off this already incredible experience is the friendly chat with the owner (he speaks great English) and also some local customers there. Truly worth a visit if you happen to be in Hakone, nearby the Open Air Museum.

Probably my favorite experience on this trip! We stumbled across this little converted Airstream camper (he imported it from San Francisco, CA) after getting off of a bus at the stop across the street. The kindest, most wonderful, gentleman owner/operator made us grilled sandwiches and pour-over coffees. Both were delicious. Such an awesome, informal, setting and respite from the drizzly rain. We went back the next day for a beer!

On a day trip to Hakone, while I was passing by, on my way to the Open Air Sculpture Garden, I inadvertently came upon this little café and was welcome by its incredibly nice owner.

He was very welcoming, and knowledgeable about coffee. He prepared a pour-over coffee for me with one of his house blend using a light roast combination from Latin American coffees, and the flavor of the coffee was excellent (I took my coffee to go and had to go back to thank him and ask for another one after my visit to the museum).

He also made some very good recommendation of specialty coffee places to go to on my upcoming trip to Kyoto. I loved this experience and was extremely lucky to have shared a moment at this place and enjoy the coffee.

I can’t recommend this place enough if you are doing the tour...

Although I spent just fifteen minutes here, it was one of the most memorable moments of my trip. I stumbled across the cafe on the way to the open air museum. The host was warm and welcoming, and talking to the other customers. I enjoyed watching him make the coffee from scratch right in front of me. Most importantly, blend 3 was delicious strong. I had a biscoff biscuit to take the edge off. For the rest of the day, my mind felt clear and at ease. I have not had coffee like this before. On my way back, I saw the host walking on the street, and he waved at me. I will not forgot...

Café Ryusenkei in Hakone is an absolute gem! Nestled inside a charming airstream, this café serves up incredible coffee, hot chocolate, and sandwiches that are nothing short of art. The barista is a true coffee artist, crafting each drink with precision and care. The coffee is rich and aromatic, the hot chocolate is decadent, and the sandwiches are fresh and flavorful. The unique airstream setting adds a touch of whimsy to the experience, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a delightful meal. Highly recommend stopping by Café Ryusenkei for a memorable and...
