This ryokan is a truly special place. The hospitality, ambience and cuisine were all exceptional.
The hot spring bath was attached to the room and was incredibly relaxing. It was a quiet room and very spacious. All the amenities you could imagine were there and we were even given 4 free drinks when we first arrived along with a bottle of sparkling wine. There was also free coffee in the lounge, the receptionist was very kind and pleasant.
The real star of the show here however is the food. It was a full French course menu that was immaculately put together, from the delicious first amuse bouche to the final cup of tea we had such a nice dining experience.
Front of house staff were kind and thoughtful. Pace of dining was the perfect speed. The chef and his staff are obviously incredibly talented, he was even kind enough to come to our table and speak with us shortly. My favorite was the bouillabaisse, incredibly flavorful and made with such a delicate touch. Every part of the meal was delicious, the next mornings breakfast was also perfection. This is definitely the best French food I've ever experienced in Japan and I'm thankful to have been able to partake in it.
Wonderful place, wonderful staff with equally wonderful cuisine. Will definitely be visiting again in the...
Read moreWas such a wonderful experience for our one night stay here. You will not be disappointed booking here. I knew I wanted to try something different in Hakone for an onsen stay with half boarding, and looked at the limited reviews about this hidden gem of French cuisine by chef Saito. Decided to pick this place even though there’s no view of the mountains but the backyard was such a calming and relaxing view to watch. We were absolutely blown away by his creativity, artistry in presentation and the food composition, and the taste of each dish was so flavourful. He deserves so much more attention for his food, if this was offered in central Tokyo no doubt the cost of this meal would be so much higher but it was so worth it for a one night stay that also included an amazing French breakfast! The raw tomato juice and the finale of a perfect custard pudding! Truly everything was perfect, thank you for the great hospitality and letting us store our luggage before check in and after when we wanted to go for lunch before...
Read moreWe stayed here just 1 night after arriving in Tokyo. It’s approx a 45 min bus ride from the main station & a 5 min walk from the bus stop. There’s a Lawsons & a cpl of local restaurants within walking distance if you need lunch or opt not to eat dinner in the ryokan. ||Rooms are an ok size with a separate toilet & sink. Unless you have booked a private onsen room, your bathing/showering facilities are downstairs in the public onsen. Luckily I was the only person in there both times. The water is so hot, you can’t stay in long. The dinner was a traditional hot pot with high quality Waygu beef, but no options for anything else. The all inc drinks were ok. ||Breakfast was traditional smoked fish, rice, yogurt. An English menu of what breakfast included would have been helpful as would a western option as I couldn’t eat a lot of it. ||The staff are very sweet but barely speaks any English so you need to rely on google translate. Ok for a traditional ryokan experience if that’s what you’re...
