China House Gyoza — Restaurant in Hakone

The gyoza makes this place, it's gyoza that you will remember. We got both types and both were amazing (one had an interesting leaf in it whose flavor I remember but not the name). I ended up stuffing myself with those and their excellent kimchi cucumber, so there wasn't a lot of space left for the tantanmen I ordered.

Talking of, I hoped it was going to be a small bowl, given limited stomach real estate, and it turned out to be exactly the opposite. It was a large bowl full of soupy goodness and noodles and corn and nori and what not! One sip in and I knew I was going to have to finish this while it's hot and spicy. I ended up getting thru 75% of it and taking a brisk walk to try soothe my burgeoning food baby.

The spot is clearly a favorite of the locals and rightly so. The servers were all so amazing and nice and made our experience wonderful, I'd love to be back here whenever I end up back in the beautiful town of Hakone to give Owakudani-san and...

This place was recommended by our Hotel owner (Field Hakone Resort) and it was beyond my expectation! The staff were really nice and friendly! They immediately gave us english menu and were really kind. Even though one of us spoke Japanese, they tried conversing in english which I found really wholesome. The food itself was extremely delicious. We ate the Tebasaki gyoza/pot sticker Set B and the Garlic (stamina) gyoza/pot sticker Set A. The Chinese noodles were perfect! The gyoza was by far the tastiest gyoza I have ever eaten in my life. 10/10 would recommend and visit again when in Hakone! I hope this restaurant...

Sooooo goood! We had three different types of vegetarian gyoza. Especially loved the gingko and garlic ones but seaweed and mixed veggies were also delicious. My husband spotted a couple of very tiny pieces of meat in them though so of you're very strict vegetarian be aware there may be some meat. However he doesn't eat any meat other than chicken and is usually very bothered by the taste of other meats and had no issues so you probably wouldn't even notice it. Highly recommend! Open...
