If you’re looking for true local, no frills attached place with excellent food then this is the place. The restaurant is run and owned by an old man who has had the place for over 50 years. He only speaks Japanese and the menu is all in Japanese but you can use google translate. The ramen was delicious and he served it to us with amazing tea which he had brought back with him on a trip from Taiwan. The interior is bursting with character and you really feel like you’ve found a local hidden gem. It’s also insanely cheap! I have a big apatite and the 700 Yen ramen filled me up!

Exquisite furnisure and the old man is really a brilliant chef. He runs the kitchen on his own and speaks just japanise (the menu is on japanise as well) but you'll firgure it out how to communicate with the staff and chef. The food is amazing and the website is not updatet, so they probably have open. You can just go to the hakone hostel 1914 and ask the polite lady for an advice or maybe she makes a reservation for you ;) Defintely worth a visit! Furthermore the food is crazy cheap. We paid for 2 portions of ramen and one shared tonkayatsu 2.200 yen.

We went here after our Onsen stay. The owner is super kind and you basicly eat in his home. He doesn't speak english but we managed anyways. There is no englisch menue but you can translate it very easily with google lens. Food was amazing! (Curry Udon in my case)
