I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. While the interior is clean and decorated in a traditional style, the overall quality of service and food does not justify the high prices. The dishes were overpriced and of poor quality – certainly not what you’d expect for the amount charged.
One of the biggest issues was the karaoke. Be extremely careful – they charge an outrageous $300 per song, without clearly informing customers beforehand. It felt like a scam.
The bartender was very unfriendly and dismissive, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. Fortunately, one of the women working there made an effort to lighten the mood and was the only positive part of the service.
Overall, I do not recommend this place. You’ll pay far too much for mediocre food, rude service, and surprise charges. There are plenty of better, more honest places to enjoy a meal or...
Read moreWe ate here because it was the only restaurant around our hotel without taking the train somewhere, but it was really good. The food was all great, and the owners were nice. We were the only customers for the first half of the time we spent there, and my daughter was a bit fussy because she was exhausted and hungry, but they were patient and kind to us. The Lady owner gave us a little package of snacks for free for my daughter while we waited for our food which was really nice and helpful!! We enjoyed all the food, and it was a cute small bar with a nice atmosphere. There is also karaoke, but we didn’t try. The prices are kind of expensive, but it’s really the only restaurant around (at least on Wednesday nights) so I think they can charge whatever they want lol. Also they had basashi which I love and haven’t eaten in a long time! Many izakaya don’t sell basashi...
Read moreThe Izakaya is run by an older couple in a very traditional style Japanese interior. The couple only speak Japanese, but if you can read hiragana/Katakana you should be ok ordering (otherwise just point at the menu 😉). It's feels ostensibly japanese with an older (slightly grumpy Japanese man) and his lovely wife serving you. Honestly an amazing experience even just for the atmosphere. As food and drinks go, we tried Karage, Edamame, Pork Yakitori and Beef Yakitori with Sapporo and Asahi beer (They also have an assortment of Spirits. All the food was amazing and well seasoned, however I found the beef to be slightly too rubberie for my taste. I will be sure to come again next time...
