For dinner today I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. It also comes with salad or fries. The price was ¥1290/$8.35. This was the best Nashville Hot chicken sandwich I have ever had (ever better than in the USA). The flavors were delicious and super authentic. What really makes it my favorite is the texture and the sauces provided. I added their honey mustard sauce and it was delicious. The hot chicken was super crispy on the outside and was juicy and tender on the inside and the bun was high quality and toasted. Finally, it was actually spicy, which can be difficult to find in Japan.
I went again for lunch the next day and got the Pork belly sandwich for ¥1590/$10.29. It was also very delicious. Lunch comes with salad or fries but also a drink. The sandwich was stuffed full of delicious and tender pork and the sauces were flavorful! The salad contains cold veggies and an acidic citrusy dressing that is refreshing and pairs well with the rich and heavy BBQ pork. Staff was friendly and polite during both meals and the atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing. I will be sad that I won't be able to eat here anymore once I leave Hamamatsu tomorrow, so take your chance to enjoy the food while you...
Read moreAmericans! Are you feeling homesick for some good old fashioned BBQ? Well stop by The Smoke Club to get a taste of real American style BBQ and go hungry! The owner, Masato Hirata, has spent years perfecting his craft through trial and error. We started with the pulled pork nachos which was accompanied by a spicy salsa and generous portion of pork. Next, I got the pulled pork tacos which came with the choice of fries or a salad. The dressing on the salad was really good and again, the tacos had a healthy portion of meat. There is no skimping. I consider myself a macaroni and cheese aficionado and I was impressed. It was creamy and steaming hot. My husband ordered the platter with three choices of meat and two sides. He selected the baby back ribs, pulled pork, and brisket with mashed potatoes and BBQ Beans as his sides. While at first glance, the size of the ramekins that the sides were served in seem small, there portion is more than adequate. Masato-san informed us that he has opened a second restaurant called Smash Boys. I am looking forward to giving it a try. What makes the experience of eating at The Smoke Club even better is the personable staff and the...
Read moreThis restaurant reminded me of home. I'm a tourist from the US so seeing this restaurant piqued my interest, As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with enthusiasm from all the employees. Despite the langauge barrier, the employee tending to me was incredibly friendly and showed me the different menus whilst also giving me a hot towel. Their sandwich menu is in Japanese and their BBQ menu is in both Japanese and English. I ordered a meat combo platter as it seemd like good value: three meats and two side dishes. It was excellent: the pork was juicy, the brisket was tender and the ribs were savory and flavorful. The pickled vegetables, jalapenos and red onion, that came with the dish were also great complementing flavors. My sides of macaroni and cheese as well as mashed potatoes were filling and also delicious. If I ever come back to Hamamatsu, I would love to come and eat here again: the staff was wonderful, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the experience is splendid. I definitely believe I got good value in food and service here and would highly recommend this restaurant to tourists and...
