I elected this place to stay through booking.com as I thought it was on the island itself. My mistake was for not being thorough. It's on mainland about 70 metres from ferry and tram terminals. I was treating myself as a budget traveller, preferring to travel for months rather than a couple of weeks each year. As a treat, I was disappointed. Apart from the normal big entrance lobby, there was nothing special about it. My room overlooked a car park. It was slightly longer than I normally get but not wider or big in general. Amenities were the same as all the hotels I've stayed at in Japan, although they did have a better selection of coffee and teas. I made my reservation through booking.com, and I was told breakfast was not included in my room price. I asked if I could pay for breakfast and was told no!!! There are no cafes and restaurants close by, so I waited until I was in central Hiroshima to partake of breakfast. Big disappointment, surely it's not hard to charge a current client a price for breakfast. Staff were very helpful and checked in easy. So, for me personally, wasn't anything special or different, but the proximity to the ferry for a day visit to the island is good. Location on the mainland is good, but don't be fooled by its name it's not on the island. Service good, but no cafes around need to reposition their attitude to not serving breakfast to all customers. Value for money is not there for me. I've had as good and better in some of the chain hotels, just not a big...
Read moreIf you are planning a night on Miyajima Island, here is a little tip. Give this place a look.
Back in June 2025, I stayed at the Miyajima Coral Hotel for one night. And one of its biggest perks was location. Just a five-minute walk from the ferry terminal. After a long day of travel, that kind of convenience is not just nice. It is gold.
Because I stayed right on the island, I could enjoy Miyajima at sunrise around six in the morning, and again later at night around eight. No rushing back to the mainland. That quiet walk at dawn and the calm of the evening made the trip worthwhile. And having a place nearby to rest and recharge saved me from extra hassle.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well-suited for families. On the first floor, there was a microwave and vending machines for water and soda. Simple, but practical. Just one note of caution. The hotel has only one elevator, so check-out time can feel a bit crowded. Best to plan ahead.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely. It is not fancy, but it gets the important things right. And sometimes, that is all you really need.
Enjoy your stay. And when the island quiets down at night, do not forget to look up at the stars. They are...
Read moreDo not stay at this hotel because it is below standard. The pictures are deceiving and misleading. Bedding is uncomfortable because the sheets are rough like sand paper. And the comforter is made from plastic. The wallpaper has scratches and stains. The comforter is disgusting because it has stains. The furniture are scratched, chipped and unstable. The furniture are in worse and old condition; and they belong to a homeless shelter. Homeless shelters have better furniture. There is a desk but the desk has no chair. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. However, you do not need to stay near Miyajima. It is a short subway ride to Hiroshima city where there are better comfortable and updated hotels for the same price or less. I had to take the subway back to the city and get a different hotel for a night because the room was in a Horrible condition. Online pictures deceive. Do not waste your money and time staying at Miyajima Coral Hotel because...
