茶屋わたや(Chayawataya) near the port of Miyajimaguchi is a little restaurant next to coral hotel. My mother, my litlle sister and I saw the menu in front of the window. It looked tasty so we decided to have there dinner. Chayawata is a traditional japanese restaurant and it is quite special because you have normal seats and few seats in small rooms with tatami and low tables. My mother and I had the meal deal set menu, it was cheap but it looked also healthy. We both had japanese soups for the starter and few cooked vegetables. At the same time the staff served us the main dish. We had Tempura (fried shrimps/ leaves, could also be vegetables), japanese rice and sashimi (raw fish). Our tempura was tasty and crispy as well and our sashimi was shiny, so delicious and we couldn't have enough! We didn't choose desserts because we were full. We both were very impressed by the kind and efficient service and the staff has assured us that they use only fresh seafoods and vegetables. I would recommend this restaurant for everyone who would like to have a dinner after visiting Miyajima, for all who hasn't got a lot of money and for everyone who loves traditional japanese...

We saw this white "2019 Hatsukaichi Oysterlicious Best 8" Flag Sign outside. Apparently the place was chosen to experience something different and unique compared to other spots around Miyajima.
We originally were going to go to the first floor shop directly across from the JR Ferry terminal but it was full. SO we were directed to the 2F second floor inside the Miyajima Coral Hotel.
It was a good decision as we sat across overlooking Miyajima Island with an unobstructed view. The food was basically at tasting of everything oyster. Super fresh and super chill! The staff while they didn't speak English, it was no problem! They tried really hard and were very polite. You can tell they like what they do. That makes a difference when you are sitting there. The place is a bit typical looking but the food was awesome!

Read moreWe went there at Lunchtime on a Monday and were warmly greeted. The restaurant was cosy and nicely decorated. The view on the Miyajima island was wonderful. But above all, two elements stood out. A caring and kind service despite the language barrier of us not speaking Japanese, and a delicious and memorable food, probably the best one we had up to now during our trip to Japan. Highly recommend the place! Would go back again...
