Hiiragi QWELL Himeji Store — Restaurant in Himeji

Himeji is famous for its unagi so I visited this place when I was there. I do not have particularly high expectations as the unagi that I had in the past from other places were usually bland with a mushy texture. This time round, 柊’s 柊御膳 made me realise how good unagi can be. The unagi was cooked in different ways and they complement each other well. The unagi tempura was the star of the show - crispy on the outside, soft but still slightly firm on the inside and bursting with flavour....

I came here for their set menu but apparently it was only available during lunch hours. I ended up having their bento instead. The unagi was well presented, tender, and well seasoned with the sauce. Absolutely delicious! We loved it. Came for lunch and had the basic set menu for two which was plentiful. We only wish we had come slightly hungrier to try there other menus. The eel was divine and probably some of the best I’ve ever had. Thank you to the whole staff for making us...
