Moncherry Ushita — Restaurant in Hiroshima

I've lived in Ushita for over five years but never stopped at Moncherry until a few days ago. I'm skilled at baking and rarely feel the need to buy a cake from the store or a shop. As an American, I also think Japanese cakes tend to be too airy and dry. However, my wife's birthday was coming up and my schedule was so busy that I didn't have time to bake her a cake. I had always wondered about Moncherry, so I went in to have a look around. I found exactly what I needed! I found an unfrosted butter cake. It was perfect for my needs. My wife had requested the same cream cheese frosting I had made for our son's birthday. So I unboxed the sponge I got from Moncherry and frosted it myself. The combination was perfect!

Moncherry's butter cake sponge was moist, tender and full of flavor. It was not too fluffy or too dense. Moreover it was not too sweet, and it was reasonably priced. The woman behind the counter was very kind. She made sure to check she understood my choice in my probably broken Japanese. And the service was swift. I'm very pleased.

My life isn't slowing down at all and frosting is quick to make while baking a cake from scratch is not, so I will definitely buy their butter cake sponge again for future...

クリスマスケーキや誕生日ケーキをこちらで購入しました。 大変美味しいケーキです。

つい先日の夕方に、なんでもない日だったのですが甘いものがまた食べたくなりこちらに伺いました。 開店時間内にもかかわらず店員さんがいらっしゃらず、どうしようか悩んでいたら、カウンター置くから無言で男性の店員さんが出てきました。エプロンは粉砂糖なのか、小麦粉なのか、白い粉で汚れておりとても汚らしい格好をされていました。 しばらく無言で見つめ合ったあと、痺れを切らしこちらから「このケーキください」と申し出ました。すると男性店員さんは無言でケーキを取り、「〇〇円です」と小声で囁かれました。 ケーキを取る際にビニール手袋をしていたのですが、カウンター後ろにある棚の上に無造作に置いてあった手袋を使っていたので使いまわしてるのかと思います。ケーキを取ってビニール手袋をつけたままお会計作業をされていて、どんな衛生管理をされてるのかととても不思議に思いました。 買ったケーキはとても美味しそうだったのですが、正直言って食べたいと思えませんで...
