slow cafe — Restaurant in Hitoyoshi

Fantastic place to get breakfast and a coffee! This place is great if you are looking for a place to have breakfast. In Japan, it can be hard to find a place to have breakfast. They don't have a culture of eating out for breakfast like in the West. So, whenever there is a place that is open for breakfast, it gets an instant 5 stars. I was super happy to discover this place when I was hungry one morning in Hitoyoshi. So yeah, 5 stars. The breakfast here was simple, but good. The coffee was good, too. And the atmosphere is nice. I recommend having a morning soak in an onsen, and then stopping by this place for some food and a relaxing cup of coffee.

火曜日のランチタイム。人吉市役所周辺でお昼食べられる店を探していて見つけました。人吉ICで高速バス降りて、地元の循環バスに乗り継いで人吉第一中学校前バス停下車、歩いて２分程で着きました。車で来る場合は、人吉駅前から真っすぐ人吉橋を渡り約300m走り左側です。道沿いから一区画引っ込んでいるので、車中からは探しづらいと思いますが、軽２台分程度のＰスペースがあります。店内は期待を裏切らない昭和レトロな雰囲気。小さめな４人掛けテーブル４つと、荷物置きになっている２人掛けテーブル１つ、カウンターが３席。狭いけど落ちつける店内でした。初老の話し好きそうなマスターが１人で切り盛りされているので、時間にゆとりがある時が良いと思います。１２時過ぎに貸し切りだったので、失礼ながらお客さん来るのかな〜と思ってましたが、１人また１人と常連さんらしいお客さんが来たので何となく安心しました。その日は日替わりランチでハンバーグと白身魚フライ&エビフライのセットをいただきましたが、魚フライ２つにエビフライ２本もついてきたので、結構お腹いっぱいになりました、懐かしい昭和の味で美味しかったです。 時間がゆっくり流れている...
